We'll be in the market for a TV soon, our TT is around 4500lbs dry and around 5500-6000 lbs on the road.
The big question! The pros and cons of Suv vs Truck. We'll be me and my wife and our two childrens.
The Suv Exp./Sub - Truck, crew cab F150/Sierra.
We like the closed back end, 7 passengers seating of the Suv for the day to day activity with the kids (Skiing, day trip etc) but also like the truck capacity, haul wood/dirt and possibility to haul high object.
Will the suv be harder on gas, pulling/not pulling? Ride comfort of the truck pulling/not pulling? Any input!
I know one might say it's a personnal choice, but any info might help!
You could buy a crewcab pickup and put a camper shell on it. You get plenty of seating room for everyone, plus plenty of lockable, weathertight storage area in the bed with the camper on, or plenty of wide open cargo area with the camper off.
Been there---PU w/cap is probably a better work/tow vehicle hands down, but my 3 kids weren't very comfy riding in back----pretty tough to stay warm on ski trips!
Ended up doing one of each(my 12 year-old Silverado gets better mileage than my SUV!).....but if yours is a one-vehicle family, and the SUV tow ratings fit, I'd keep the family happy----AND, just how often are you gonna' be towing? If a PU ends up the winner, make it a crew cab!

For a small trailer like that it's your call. Get what works best for you as long as it's not just one of those SUV SHAPED vehicles. Make sure the ratings cover your trailer weight (including the cargo and passengers IN the SUV).
Since there are only 4 of you and you are asking about seating for 7, I have to assume that you want to take extra bodies along on SOME of these trips?
I guess if you want seating for 7, your only choice is a large SUV. So I have to ask, why ask? There is NO trucks in stock form that will seat 7. There are however conversion companies that will do it for a price.
7 passenger is SUV or van territory. Marry that with towing capacity
to drive the sizing of that SUV/Van. Don't forget that if your kids
are small, they kinda sorta grow and want to take along buddies... Pets?
House utility dictates a pickup truck but I've also hauled dirt/gravel/wood/etc
in my K5 Blazer and Suburban with a tarp to keep it off of the rugs, but
nothing I'd like to do often.
If every once in a great while, then rent or borrow a pickup.
I have a 4x4 Suburban for my people hauling and towing. An old Silverado
pickup for my dirt/wood/gravel/refrigerator/lumber/cement/etc hauling.
It was dad's grocery store truck and is cheap, as it cost $5 bucks for
the DMV title transfer fee, kinda sorta remember about $400 bucks/year
insurance and maintenance (DIY most all things on it).

For us, the crew cab pickup works best. I've considered getting a topper, but I don't put much valuable cargo back there when traveling. It's me, the wife, the teen and the lab. If others are going along, it's a second vehicle, usually the DWs Hyundai Santa Fe.
Drive a bunch of different vehicles. You will soon find out what works best for you. All trucks, SUVs are not created equal!

Sounds to me like you will be happier with an SUV. I have a similar weight trailer and I'm very happy pulling it with a 2008 Nissan Armada that has a towing capacity of 9000 pounds. My TT weighs in at about 6200 pounds with a full tank of fresh water.
I carry plenty of stuff in the back of the Armada and have never missed having a truck.

I have two crew cab trucks. With 5 people they are full, especially adults. My GMC has the split bench. I could put a sixth person there, but they won't like it. They would also have to be no older than about 10.
We mostly take two crew cab trucks, so we have room for 10 adults including drivers.
