Newmar doesn't recommend them on the DP's, don't know about the gassers though. I had a pair on our 2000 DSDP, they leaked so I took them off, tried them on the 2002, same result. They're in a bag in the garage someplace!! If I ever find them I'll throw them away, not worth the trouble since they just punch a hole in the tank.

Well.... What chassis do you have? I was speaking with my Damon service rep about getting a locking gas cap for my Workhorse Custom Chassis with the Chevy 8.1L vortec and he suggested I look at gas caps for a Chevy Silverado
So I went to Auto Zone, and sure enough. Fits like it was made for it., Works great.
So it depends on your rig... Some are "GM" standard size (mine) some "FORD" some ... None of the above
But go for the biggest honking pick up that has the same engine as your rig and .. Well.. It might work
As I said, in my case a Damon Rep who has a rig much like mine told me what to buy
Your rig is not, of course, a damon, but if you can contact your service rep, ask him what he suggests
I can tell you the gas cap I bought is a fraction of the cost of a Genuine Workhorse Locking Gas Cap (like 8/45ths)
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

i was going to get a locking gas cap till i looked at gas line between the fill point and where it went into the gas tank
from where i put the gas in it is 4 feet to where the tank is, then a right turn along the side of the tank for about 4 feet then a left turn to the tank.they could not get a hose to the tank.
Yes we lost about 35 or 40 gal of gas last year ,when we pulled into the RV park we had about a half a tank of gas, when we got ready to leave the tank was bone dry could not even start the motor, they took the gas line off after the elect fuel pump on the gas tank . that was gas was $4.50 a gal in Ca.some one just sat under the motorhome with a hose and some gas cans at night
which was better than putting a hole in the tank, as gas was cheapper than getting a tank repaired

Geez can we just stipulate that if one locks up their tank the thief will cause extensive damage !!!!!!!!! I am sure he realizes it !

Hi Deen, Interesting. Exactly who at Newmar recommends not to use locking fuel caps on DP's, and why?
wa8yxm wrote: I rather like the urban myth about the thief who siphoned the tank on the RV for fuel
Got the wrong tank he did
See if you can figure out why I say it's an urban myth
Well, I would think it is an event that could not happen due to there being no port above the drain outside the RV. Therefore, only the drain, which would pour all over if opened would allow any access to the Black or gray water. So......it could never be siphoned.
Scatback wrote: Not to worry, around here if they want your fuel bad enough they will simply punch a hole in the bottom of your fuel tank! A locking gas cap doesn't even slow them down.
That's what happened to a neighbor of ours. I wouldn't waste your time or the expence of one.
