Ok!

In confess that although I do have the booklet on this combination, I have only "skimed" through it.

The unit washes nicely and does a good job, however drying is different story.

I checked the outside "vent" and it has a little flapper on it - the flapper is free and there is no lint in or around it to hamper it's operation.

I do not see any place to clean out the lint inside the unit - so my question may be dumb - but:

How do you clean out the lent on this unit without actually removing the entire unit from it's resting place in the cubbyhole?

God Bless

You could try one of those "As Seen On TV" products that has a chimney sweep type wand for cleaning lint behind a washer/dryer. The kit also includes a vacuum attachment. However, I found that none of them are long enough to reach through the vent hose from the outside.

I ended up pulling my Splendide out and replacing the hose. The lint was so caked in there it was just easier to replace it.

Also, if this is your first experience with the Splendide, be sure that you don't have too much in the dryer. Mine works fine as long as I don't try to dry more than one sheet at a time; three T-shirts at a time; one bath towel and one two hand towels at a time; (you get the idea).

There is a saying that goes something like this: "When all else fails, read the instructions" so I have been told...many times...

My water pump has leaked twice on mine, so in the process of replacing the seal on it I had to remove the back of a closet to get to the rear of the washer. In doing so, I had to remove the vent hose to the washer/dryer. Its held in place with sheet metal screws (on mine) and of course they attract the lint and continue to allow it to build until the vent hose is plugged. I've replaced the sheet metal screws and just used good ole duct tape and it continues to breath properly.

Bill,
Check to see if the unit has a lint filter. Ours is also a 2000 Splendide and has a lint filter on the back of the unit just prior to where the vent hose hooks into the machine. Our lint filter is accessed by lifting a hinged flap on the panel that is on top of the washer and pulling the lint filter straignt up.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but the specs says it can wash 15 lbs of clothes but dry only 11....So there's your proof it can wash more than it can dry. Also drying is electric running on 110 AC so the drying power can only be as half of a residential one that runs on electric.

Mine has a lint filter on the front bottom right corner. You clean it while the machine is in the spin cycle. While listed as self cleaning, the manual gives the procedure for cleaning the "self-cleaning" filter.

Also take out the clothes before it starts to dry and shake them out so they fluff a bit and are not stuck together from the spin cycle.

After you figure out your lint filter problem... drying just a few items is better and those dryer balls really help too. Do not use dryer sheets, as they are small enough to be sucked into the lint filter. Use a little liquid fabric softener, diluted with water. Your clothes won't wrinkle (so much) this way and if you use a liquid fabric softener, so many of your clothes will be even better if you put them on a hanger and dry them in the shower. Clothes will last much longer if not dried in the dryer too. (my 2 cents)
