Hi all, looking for feed back on the 08 F 450 6.4. I am having injector issues with my 6.0 (again!) So I think it is time to move on. No brand wars please as I need at least the 450.

Thanks Rich

We really like our's. We pull a 17,000 pound 5er and neither the pin weight nor the weight being pulled even faze the truck. Nice ride, lots of power, nice looks. We have 4.88 rear end and 4x4 neither of which help fuel economy. Engine is very quiet. I try not to exceed 2250 RPM (about 61 MPH) and average 7.4 pulling and a little over 12 solo. Not good but probably not much different than others. (I hate to mention fuel because it will raise all sorts of claims on how well others do with their truck but this fact cannot be ignored.) Do a test drive at least.

I'm not trying to start something but I always wonder why someone goes back to a brand that has treated them so poorly? I guess there is not much choice.

I have a brand new F450 and love it. Very comfortable inside, I pulled my Wildcat by Forest River and almost did not realize it was there. I got the big truck to pull a Carri-Lite when I trade up next year. Going to Myrtle Beach in two weeks and looking forward to the trip in the truck. I just have over 1,000 miles and without pulling I averaged 12 mpg. I have the 4.3 and 4X2.

There are other options. See THIS for just one other possibility.

Also, if you want some feedback on the 08 F450, do a search for Capt. Skup. He has one and has offered some details about his in the past.

And I agree with the OP, no brand war please. I just wanted him to be aware of all the possibilities. Thank you.

You're right. I hated to let go of my 2005 LT Silverado leather seats. They were as comfortable as our Tahoe. It never gave us any problems in over 2 years. But when we upgraded to the 18.5k 5er, GM didn't have anything to tow our new 5er. We looked for over a year for a replacement. So we went back to Ford.

Now we're upgrading to a 20k 5er and don't have to trade the F450. We've replaced the radiator under warranty, but that's the only major problem we've had so far.

I have a '08 F450 with 4.30s. Towing 17k it gets 8.5 empty city gets 12.5 and highway 14-15. Rides great empty or loaded and tons of power. There don't seem to be many widespread issues. The radiator issues are about the worst of it and think they have that fixed now.

It's the best in it's class!! Talk to the people who own one and ignore everyone else. Radiators have been an issue and Ford is replacing them under warranty. I would buy another.

Thanks for all the feedback. This is the only Ford I have had problems, had 3 7,3s, trouble free. The 6.4 went back to the mechanical injector system, not the oil presure that the 6.0 has.
For those who think I should jump ship...I really like the Ford, just fit me right. I found an 08 with 6k miles on it for a good price, I think I will look at it a little harder
