Well, we had a great time in Florida.

We departed on Saturday AM and drove until within 5 miles of the Florida border. Stayed 1 night at a KOA.

Arrived at the Kissimmee KOA Sunday. What a nice park. It was very clean and very well maintained. Jim and Jennifer (work campers) were very nice and helpful. We checked in, chatted a bit and went and parked.

They had a very nice pool. We swam for a while and were joined by Jim and Jennifer and enjoyed learning about all the places they had been. The following day Perry and Kim joined in. They too are work campers.

We went to Universal Studios on Monday and had a blast. The wet rides were great.

Tuesday we did some shopping at the Malls and a little relaxing.

Wednesday Carolyns sister and brother-in-law came in from Tampa and spent the night with us at our trailer. We went to Sea World and had another great day.

That evening we played M&M Yatzee - new game bought at the M&M store in Orlando. Laughed lots.

Thursday we drove to Tampa to sister and brother-in-laws and spent the night with them, visiting their son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

We departed Tampa and drove all the way back to Roanoke - 14 1/2 hours.

It was quite hot and humid - about 83+ for the week.

We drove a total of 1801 miles, used 156.8 gallons and spent $636.59 on fuel - $4.05/gallon which wasnt too bad. We had no problem finding fuel, just the stations that have $ limit amounts per credit card transaction - just means you have to close out the filling, then do it again to completely fill up.

Truck never missed a beat. Not too much traffic. The only area of concern was SC where they had miles and miles of construction.

Overall, it was a great week.

Glad to hear that it all went well.

Glad to hear you had a nice time here. Next time plan on spending some time in the Florida State parks, some of the best in the country.

Thanks to all for your comments. Id love to spend more time and we certainly plan to do so - as soon as mama can retire. It was a long haul for a week. When you HAVE to get home, it reduces the time you feel you can spend enjoying the trip.

I love state parks as they are usually pretty clean and a little rustic. I love campfires and all the camaraderie that comes with them.

I meant to add a little about the truck and gauges. The tranny temp never exceeded 200. It ran about 185-190 even in the heat of the day.

The EGT's did get up to 1200 degrees, but only a couple times. One was pulling the hill from Wytheville heading toward NC - long uphill.

The Turbo boost never hit 20.

All went well.

Congrats on what sounded like a wonderful trip, and thanks for including your fuel costs. That was encouraging, as it sounds like you spent less on fuel than we did during a comparable length trip back around Memorial Day.
