When we go inside for the evening, the lights go off! (unless it a 2am dog break)

Agree! OFF! Or, at least minimal, and which doesn't light up the whole neighbourhood!

And, many wonder why CGs with hookups keep on costing us more and more, and why RV travelers are reluctant to spend $$ for an 8-hour sleep & use W-M lots instead.......

A very relevant, but whole separate issue from annoying the neighbours & that most outside lights aren't really "necessary" in the first place is, it costs $$ to provide all those services----and just like fuel and LPG, it ain't gonna' get any cheaper!

FWIW: While many "RVers" may think it's festive & cute(some are VERY nice!), specifically in response to the vast majority of our campers (about 45% are seasonal campers), the two CGs I'm part owner of are prohibiting string lights AND ALL marker lamps starting next season---OEM RV "porch lighting" only. (AC is already metered for all seasonal and 30' + sites. FYI: Since we began installing metered AC two years ago, we discovered many large RVs were burning as much as $20/day using multiple A/Cs, freezers, etc., while most average campers were burning somewhat less than the $5/day added charge for full hookups.)

You not only get what you pay for, but the trend is that we're all gonna' pay for what we get!

EDIT: (1.) SORRY---my mistake---$20/weekend for some of the big guys!
(2.) When the vast majority of OUR campers say "turn 'em off," they're gonna' be turned off!

Lights off! We turn them off when we go in for the night. We also shut off the A/c and everything else if we are not inside the TT. I have camped next to someone who left their tv on for their dogs all day. Shut it off!

Unless you are out there using the light to see, shut it off, please.
And this applies to the stick n' brick house as well.

We turn the outside lights off when we go in for the night. If we happen to have guest who aren't familiar with the TT. I'll plug a shielded nightlight in the TT so they can find the indoor facilities during night and not trip over anything.

$20.00 a day in electric? That's hard to believe. What in the world are you paying per kilowatt hour?

I cannot imagine any size RV being able to consume that much electricity in a day.

We keep close track of our electric usage when we are in a free site as workampers to compute the value of the perk. Even with 2 ACs running, water heater being used for washer/dryer, dishwasher, and showers, microwave convection and electric stove top, TVs and computers, at 15-20 cents per KW, we never would have hit even a bill of $150.00.

Are you sure you didn't miscalculate? It seems to me that only a HEAVY user of electricity would hit the $5.00 a day level--and that is if you are paying HIGH electric rates.

Yeah, $20/day is a little excessive. I have a 3800 sf home with 2 fridge, freezer, pond, 3 fish tanks, pool, 2 desktops, 2 laptops, twoo ac units etc.. and I do not use $20 per day.

Leave them on or off, it's your personal choice. Sometimes I leave mine on, mostly off. No matter what you do someone will be offended...so do what the heck you want and quit worrying.

Off, please. That also goes for people that think it cool to have their marker lights on all the time.

I agree, what is the purpose of that anyway? I thought the first time I saw that years ago, that someone may have had the lights rigged to the propane detecter, sending some kind of alarm. Well I guess not. I am one for the lights off, including street lights. We do like the solar garden lights and use them on occasion. You can see where to walk as the light just hugs the ground.

Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go Camping
