The swing arm allows the TV to go against the wall to view from the sofa, or into the corner to view from the bed. For travel, the TV swings out of the way for the bed slide to retract. I have a padded cover to go over the TV for travel, bumpers on the arm where it may contact the wall surfaces. A bungee cord on the back keeps it pulled tight to the slide frame for travel.

I added a cabinet door over the old TV shelf opening to make a cabinet. The door has a limited opening swing due to the ceiling light fixture, but it's still very usefull.

Great Job!

Where did you get the swing arm?

How is it mounted to the cabinet side? Does the side of the cabinet need reenforcement to hold it all?

Labor Day weekend, Target had a sale. Got a "Trutech" 19" LCD TV/DVD for $269.00. It has a very good picture and an easy to use remote and setup menu.

Target wanted $100.00 for the mount. Got one for about $36.00 here:

It's a real heavy duty mount. I could have probably gone with a smaller mount and been OK.

The cabinet side is 1/2" plywood (not particla board or 1/4" paneling), and it is the side that housed the factory TV shelf, so it was plenty secure for the bracket.
Below is the picture with the old TV setup. The cabinet side on the right now supports the new TV mount. With the TV mounted, there is next to no movement of the cabinet panel. The mounting plate is attached with 6 bolts, and nuts with locking washers. Very secure.
