I'm always reading about axle flipping to gain height, but what about those of us that have torsion axles with no springs. I'm always worried about how low my plumbing lines are hanging, and I'd love to raise my trailer about 4" or so to help out. Has anybody done this? I have access to a welding / fabrication shop, so I think that I can fab up some brackets that bolt up to the factory holes and bolt the axle to new lower holes. I would love to hear from someone who has attempted this and has some tips and hints.

Didn't lower the arms, but on my previous 5er I did install a factory "lift kit" which gave my a 3 1/2" vertical boost. That provided a dead level tow and eliminated the "tail-draggin".

The same could be done without a factory kit by installing rectangular tubes between the axle and frame.

Bob ...I haven't done it, but saw one that had been done. Basically all the guy did was remove the current running gear, weld a piece of box beam to his existing frame, and reinstall the running gear to it. Really just added depth to the frame...every thing else stayed the same, but the result was about a 3" rise to the whole trailer. Makes sense???? I don't have pictures or anything.....Brian

While Dexter and Al-Ko do not make kits; like they do for leaf spring axles; several trailer manufacturers do make kits to raise torsion axle trailers. Smaller trailers ie..pop ups, hybrids, and shorter/lighter TT's seem to use plates. Heavier TT and 5'ers seem to all use a boxed metal addition.

My Sunline is at a friends shop right now, waiting to get the spacers welded in to give Sunny a 3" lift. IF I had know when I ordered my Sunline what degree the trailing arm needed to be set at, it would have come from the factory lifted. So, Alko told me that the proper way to get a lift was to use the spacers. The 3" lift, will stop my electric tongue jack and real skid bars from dragging. I have a weird angle/dip driveway. And I will still be able to fit in the RV Port.

My trailer came with a 3" "factory lift" for it's torsion axle (AL-KO). The "kit" was simply two pieces of 2" x 3" steel tubing welded to the bottom of the frame.

It's a mod that is easily done "aftermarket" too. Just requires a little welding.

My Sunline is now home with the 3" lift completed, I love it, I didn't drag once in my driveway like I normally do, but the actual axles are still low to the ground, but I never had them drag. Here are a couple of pics:
