Hi. I'm planning a long road trip and my sons are asking me for new board games to put on the packing list.

I don't want the classics such as Monoply and scrabble, and the games will also need to travel well (not losing pieces or cash going round corners for example!).

I've heard games like Mastermind
and Timber Tom work well (or so my boys tell me!)

Any ideas before they get to my credit card?

Mexican Train is fun and you can use the dominos to play other games. Available at Target stores for $12.00

Five Crowns is a great card game. You may have to look on EBay to get it.

Rumikube is available everywhere, and we play it all the time.

Backgammon is one of our favorites. Pieces held in folding wood box playboard.

Also Cribbage - requires 1 deck of standard cards.

Both very fast and dont require a great deal of concentration...just lots of fun.

We like a dice game called Farkle. We changed the name to Sparkle as our kids couldn't quit getting the giggles when we asked them if they wanted to play. Don't know why, guess it hit their funny bone or something.

You can google the rules and all you need is a pad of paper, pencil and dice. We keeps ours in a ziplock bag with the scoring paper.

Some of our other favorites:

Othello
Mille Bornes
Boggle
Kings Corners (solitaire type game can be played with 2-4 people)

2007 GMC Yukon Denali - 6.2L 380hp/417ft-lbs,0-60 in 6.2 seconds
2007 Jayco Jayflight 27BH
Equalizer Hitch, Prodigy Brake Control
Our Truck and Trailer

Visited a lot of states, haven't camped in many...yet.

How about a book of different card games and deck of cards. I have "Card Games for Dummies" and we've learned several new to us card games and had fun learning them.

Not board games but we play UNO, and Yahtzee all the time. If you choose Yahtzee, throw away the shaker cup and make everyone just shake the dice in their hands. Shaker cup = grrrrr
