The jacks don't care if they are up or down. I am in my tenth year of fulltiming and the jacks are always down unless I'm driving. Two times I have parked with the jacks down for six months. No problem.

Michelin says if you park a motothome for months you should inflate the tires to the maximum on the sidewall. Then before driving adjust the pressures to the correct amount for your load.

I wondered about leaving my Superchief jacks down, too. I decided against it after noticing other rv's with rusty shafts. Perhaps, my concern was misplaced, though. After reading some of posts of the benefits of parking with jacks down, I'm reconsidering. Someone made the reasonable suggestion of recycling the jacks to prevent rusting the shafts. Sounds like a better way to park the rig.

I certainly am not an expert and maybe a diesel is different. Once the air is out of the air bags, the jack are suppose to lock up. I don't think it is good for the unit to sit on the tires for long periods, also. Don't you get flat spots on the tires? I hope someone that knows, jumps in here. Maybe we are both all wet. HELP!

My coach sat for 17 months with only a total of 30 miles being run on it during that time. Flat spots...sure...but within close to 4 miles it ran and rolled as smooth as ever again.

When I had my levelers installed at the HWH factory the installing tech suggested that it would be best, if staying one place for an extended period of time, to raise and lower the jacks once a month. He said this would keep the seals properly lubricated and help insure against leaks of the cylinders.

Let's see. You are going to let it sit there, Jacks PARTIALLY extended (Full extension is another matter) valves closed. If the sun heats thigns up and the hydraulic fluid expands a bit there is some room for expansion in the jacks so the pressure will not go out of bounds.. Likewise if it cools and contracts.

No, I don't see as that's hard on the system at all

Now leaving it with the pump running.. NOT GOOD but you never do that

My manufacture of both the coach and the jacks say to store with the jacks "down" in both of the owners manuals. They built the units, so I guess they know what they are talking about. I also guess that is why they printed in the owners manual, so the owners of the units would read it and heed their advise, so that is what I do. I think my tires like having the weight off of them for a long period of time as well.

I cannot halp but wonder if it is not hard on the hydraulic system to leave a coach parked for weeks/months with the jacks down??? Someone want to convince mr otherwise?
Just call your jack manufacturer. I did, and HWH says it's not a problem to have the jacks extended all the way and the front wheels off the ground (NOT the rears, that's where your parking brakes are) for long periods of time. Right now my fronts have been off the ground for over three months. Didn't plan it that way but just didn't get to go on a trip due to the step-daughters death!

first the shafts are stainless steel they can't rust, second they hydrolic system is closed loop it doesn't make any difference whether the shafts are up down or in the middle ,there is no reason to do anything with your jacks other than what you want ,
