I would agree with the posts about the module. They really are not that expensive and not hard to change with the right tool.Keep us informed about the problem.

I doubt this is his issue as a '96 model of the 460 wouldn't have a Catalytic convertor.......

You are correct, this model does not have one.

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be a bad battery disconnect relay.
When it died, it wouldn't turn over. Wait awhile, and it would start up an run like a top...till next time.

Starter turns over with no problems in my case. Thanks for the thought.

Not specifically familiar with Ford, but if your coil is mounted external, if it fails, normally it would short out to ground. This means that when it fails, you could unbolt it and lay it loose on a piece of cardboard. If the vehicle starts, then you know you have a bad coil.
Engine compartments run very hot inside motorhomes, so premature failure of electrical stuff is pretty common. I've had coils fail on me on some of my cars and a few of my snowmobiles. All had the same symptoms, which are similar to what you describe.

My 1996 did the same thing. Replaced the fuel pump. You don't have to drop the tank all the way down or drain the tank. We simply tilted it down on the right side and reached above the tank and replaced it. About $200 for the pump. Good luck.

Another thing to check is the fuel pump relay in the fuse/relay box. They are cheap and easy to change. I carry a spare in my rig.

Prior owners records show on 8/99 "fuel pressure dropped after vehicle was driven. Performed fuel system diagnosis, found fuel pump going bad. Removed fuel tank and replaced pump. Installed updated wiring harness and reaassembled."
If you have the workorder, you may want to check the part number.

I met a guy this weekend who said he had to replace the pump twice because Ford had a shortage of the new style early on ...

This was my initial thought as well. If the 99 replacement was of the old style (inventory setting on the shelve) it could have failed again. It seems someone recently covered how to replace with an in line fuel pump for this Ford issue.
