The fuel tank is not vented and there is only one fuel filter, located along the left frame side rail.

Not vented thru the cap! It is a closed system to prevent the escape of gas vapors. The vapors are collected in a charcoal canister to be ingested into the engine for burn off.

When it dies, squirt some starting fluid down the intake. If it starts, you have a fuel problem. If it doesn't, you have an electrical problem. Its just that simple.
