Just wanting to hear from some people out there that are towing with a Dodge Megacab and How they like it. If you could let me know what you are towing, and the size and weight that would be great. Looking at getting a TH of some type in March of 09, thanks. Like I said it's a 2008 Dodge Megacab 3500.

I have a 2007 (5.9L which is 325hp/610tq, and a 4 speed auto 48RE trans) Megacab 3500. I tow the 34' RV in my sig, which weighs in at just over 9000# loaded for a trip. It does the job quite effortlessly. Put it in tow/haul mode, set the cruise, and relax. The 2008 is a 6.7L with 350hp/650tq, and has a new 6 speed auto and exhaust brake which would all improve towing performance.
I'm sure mine would tow quite a bit more weight with no problem. In fact, I ran into a guy in a Wal*Mart parking lot in Calgary, Alberta this summer that was pulling a triple axle, 39' Toyhauler with the same truck as mine! He said the trailer weighed "around 17000#" , and all he added was airbags to the rear suspension.

I've got a 2007 dodge MegaCab 4x2 3500 CTD. Essentialy the same truck as yours. I tow a 32 foot Trailsport TS27QBSS. loaded its around 6000 and have no problems at all.
I put it in tow haul mode and turn the jake brake on (exhaust brake) on. Actually I run the jake brake all the time and love it. I've gone up long steep grades....Hwy 168 up to Shaver Lake and La Questa grade by Pismo Beach. La Questa has a 35 MPH limit if your towing when going down the grade. Had it in tow'haul with exhaust brake and never had to touch the service brakes.
I also have the nav system and thats pretty nice as well.

I have an '07 6.7L. 2500 HD megacab. Love the extra room inside, hate the shortened short box. It tows well BUT - I have had a problem with the regen cycle dumping fuel into the oil and the dealer is giving me the runaround. I have had 4% and have heard of up to 17% fuel in the oil. Ask them to put in writing that anything over 0% is unacceptable. I'm towing a 25' 5th wheel 7000# & an 18' fiberglass boat bucking the wind in ND. I usually drive somewhat fast and get about 10 - 14 mpg. towing, 15 - 16 otherwise.

My 2008 Megacab 3500 4X4 has about 16K miles on it. I tow a 33' triple axle TH with four quads that goes about 14.5K loaded. I have added a Lorenz leveling kit on the front, Bilstein 5100 shocks all around, Firestone Ride-Rite airbags on the rear and run Nitto Terra Grappler 305/55 E rated tires on 20" wheels.
I think it is a great tow vehicle. It has very adequate power stock, even for all of the mountains it seems we have to climb everywhere we go out here in the West. The 6 speed auto trans and exhaust brake have been tremedous coming down the hills as well. Obviously, you can only get a short box from the factory (although there are a few places that will convert to a long bed for about $6K.) I solved that problem with a Sidewinder pinbox. I think the truck does a great job towing a fairly heavy set up.
Good luck.

My neighbour tows a fifth wheel, flatbed trailer, tandem axle that hauls commercial equipment. He has the 2007 2500 HD, 4 WD Dodge 4 door (not mega)with the automatic and Cummins diesel.
I've gone on long runs with him a couple of times and we weighed in at a govt. truck stop...total weight about 25,000 lbs total. The truck pulls this weight with no problem.

Pulling a 28.5' 5th wheel, running about 13,000 lb, with an '06 SRW 4x4. Gets around 13 mpg mostly towing. Reused hitch from long box, so have to watch cab clearance, backing in tight, but hasn't been an issue yet. Love the room in the back, I'm 6'7" and junior is 6'3" and can sit behind me with room to spare. Puppies like the room, and the split seat lets them see out while laying down.

I have the 07.5 MC DRW with 40K miles and tow a 11K 5th wheel. I have no problems at all towing and stopping. I have talked to guys towing over 16K with the MC and have no problems at all. For some reason the MC payloads are very low but the rear axle rating on mine is over 9300 pounds. They will handle more then the ratings. BTW I love mine.
