DW and I will be leaving Middle Georgia around 4 PM on Thursday and need to get close or a few miles into North Carolina before stopping. We will probably get to the border around 10. I saw that North Carolina Rest areas and the Walmart in Lumberton NC do not allow overnight parking. Is there a place nearby that will allow us to stop for 5 or 6 hours. We have to be in Delaware on Friday or we would stop earlier and a campground. Thanks,

There is a nice KOA at exit 90...about 1/2 mile east off the of I-95. Not sure what the prices are, but it's clean, quiet, and just off the highway,

I usually get on I-95 at I-40, and head north, so don't know much about what is below that. It may be further than you wanted do go (basically, 90 miles into NC), and it sounds as if you wanted to boondock. I'm sure others will have more information.

The NC rest area. You, a dozen other RV's, 20 cars & 50 trucks will be getting a little shut-eye. Done it time & again. Not a problem in spite of what the signs say.

If you don't like the rest area idea, here is another choice.

Pedro's CG at the NC/SC line is pretty cool. Pedro's South of the Border CG
If you can drive another hour, there is a great KOA at exit 61. One of the nicest KOA's we've been to.
Wade/Fayetteville KOA
There is also a CG in Lumberton off exit 17. Don't know anything about it but some I'm sure some people do:
Sleepy Bear CG

2008 Palamino Sabre 31RKTS

Pedro's is good and this time of year it shouldn't be too crowded.

It is 'illegeal' to overnight at the NC Welcome center, but it is done and seldom does anyone get fined for it. I think as long as you are there for less than 8 hours, you'll have nothing to worry about. IMHO (as a NC Tax Payer) I would rather someone sleep at a rest area than to fall asleep and kill someone on the road.

Thre is also a FlyingJ and a Wilco Travel Center at SC exit 181 and a Love's at SC exit 190.

Safe Travels.

Pedro's has undergone a fixing-up - it looks much nicer! The prices have increased too, but they allow me to wash my rig in the space, and that saves some $$$. I've enjoyed walking around the trashy stores - but they're "across the street" and away from the RV park. The Town of Dillon is a nice little place - good to drive through. I always try to include SOB in my route.

There were 50 RV's in the Lumberton WM lot when we went by in April. Pedro and all of the other CG's don't like late arrivals, that's why WM boondocking happens.
