I hate to admit that you have to classify us as "active older adults." When we go out we hike/bike 5 to 6 days a week. Lots of smelly and dirt encrusted clothes. We have a Splendide in our MH and had one in our previous fiver. Trying to take enough clothes for a two-week trip was impossible. If we ran out of clothes, we gave up hours of valuable vacation time waiting on washers/dryers. Now we take about three days worth of clothes and wash every day or two. Now that we are taking more time off as we approach retirement the washer/dryer is a must. Biggest plus is that we can come home with everything clean except for the clothes on our back!

We have a Splendide 2100S. DW was dubious at first but is now a believer. We use ours for everything except the bedspread and dog beds. If we dry camp for a week then we hit a laundromat to get caught up.

We don't use our combo unit all the time but it's sure handy when we need one. Even though there's only two of us we wouldn't have a unit without one.

Wife hated the 2000 and had me sell it on eBay. She prefers shelves where the W/D used to be installed.

We have a 36M Winnebago. It came with combo. washer/dryer. Like some of you, we wondered if it would be used. Now we would not be without it. Hope it never gives out because we will just have to replace it. As previously said, no laundromat, no waiting as you watch the clothes spin, no worry about finding our clothes gone when we come back to get them, and a lot less environmental impact - Far less water, power and soap than any old style residential units. Some RV'ers even run their generators and wash and dry as they travel down the road. It is a must for anything other than weekend camping.

We have a Splendide 2100XC (combo unit), and I love it.

The biggest complaints I heard when reviewing the option to buy or not was: how long it takes to do a load of laundry, and that clothes are wrinkled.

What I have learned and the manual tells you to do for the wrinkles is to make sure you liquid fabric softener, that helps so it does stick so tight to the drum when it spins. I then immediately take out my clothes and press out any wrinkles I may see.

As far as the loads taking so long, it really depends on what you are washing/drying. It is not that bad for me because I very seldom dry my clothes (other than socks and undergarments) in the Splendide. After my clothes are done washing (anywhere from 33 minutes for lightly soiled Perm Press or 96 minutes for exceptional soiled heavy cottons), I will either hang them outside on my Smart Dryer, or if I can't hang it out I put the clothes on hangers and hang on a shower rod that hangs in my bedroom out of the way.

I also like it because I don't have this huge load of laundry stacked up somewhere in the motorhome (we store our dirty laundry in the combo and do laundry everyday), and I don't need to take along so many clothes.

We love ours and glad we made the investment.

For us as full-timers, it's not even debatable; wouldn't be without one!
