It has been awhile since I posted this so here I go again. Anyone who has stayed there or driven through there in the past two years please respond. What were your impressions? TIA
We passed thru there in early 07.
Small town with some shops, creek runs thru
with some pretty scenery. Didn't see rv park.
Not much to do or see, as soon as you exit downtown
back to flat land.

We stayed there this spring. Owners are nice and friendly. Park is all gravel.
Not much to see or do in Wimberley except for the first Saturday market day and the downtown (antique & gift) shops.
If you venture into Blanco be sure to visit the Blanco Bowling Club Cafe. They have a four lane bowling alley that has pin setters. Yes, real humans setting the pins.

We used to do that when I was at college. The school's bowling alley was in the basement of the student union building, and one semester I signed up for bowling as my phys ed requirement. During the class, half of us would take stations back behind the alley and reset pins (you had to be really careful to keep your feet & legs out of the way when those balls came through!) - we also had to send the balls back. The other half of the group would bowl. Halfway through the class time we'd switch places. Rather fun, but talk about low-tech!!
As far as Wimberley goes, my impression is that it's a decent base for exploring the Hill Country, especially if you want to be close to Austin and/or San Antonio. Otherwise, yes, it's a small town.
A couple of other parks you may want to check out in that area are Cottonwood Creek RV Park and Blanco Settlement. Both are on CR165 between Blanco and Wimberly.
