How late in the season is it safe to camp without winerizing. I want to go up to Pocono PA in November but it gets pretty cold up there.
Has anyone else camped the Poconos in a TT in the winter? Also I am looking for a nice campground preferably on a lake or river up there if anyone knows of anything.

That is a tough time of year for that area. I was born in that area and remember some pretty good snow storms in the past, AND some pretty mild times also. You are going to have to play the weather game for that trip and rely on forecasts (weathermans guess) prior to your trip. You shouldnt have to worry about reservations that time of year so no loss if you cancell at the last minute.

Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go Camping

Lots of folks winterize about the time of their average first freeze (for us, that's mid-October) but unwinterize if they want to camp during the winter - then rewinterize when done. Another possibility is to plan to winter-camp w/o using your camper's water system (or at least w/o using the freshwater part of the system). I don't necessarily advise waiting until November to winterize - as weathershak said, watch the weather and plan accordingly.

I typically camp till Thanksgiving. Only had one freeze up. It got down to the 20's. I have tank heaters and forgot to turn them on. The waste tanks froze solid but thawed out as the day went on.

Flyfisherman128, just saw your location and had to comment. I was born in Amsterdam and lived in Broadalbin for 10 yrs. (still pop. of about 2000?).

Broadalbin, who woulda thunk?

To the OP: Lots of CGs in the east close around Oct. 15 so you may be limited. Good luck.
