have a dometic series 579 roof air. that goes into short cycle. here is todays story.
i ran the temp setting to 40 and turned the unit on. i let it run for 10 min and the instant read thermometer read about 60. i very slowly ran the temp up and the a/c shut off about 84setting. i waited for a few minutes and the unit started to short cycle. then the house breaker tripped.
later, i plugged the mh in again, and the a/c went on. temp at 80 at the stat, stat set to 84
unit ran till temp 70 then shut off till 73. then it started short cycling again. this is a dometic duo-therm stat all electronic with a thermistor (i guess) the mh is 2003
i checked the fliter and evaporator and neither is particularly dirty. also the condenser appeared ok.
thanks for your replies

It sounds to me like it must be in the thermostat-maybe it needs to be replaced.

I had a similar event, and suspected the thermostat, but before replacing it I took the cover off and hit it liberally with contact cleaner while also moving the slider up an down aggressively, no problems after that. Apparently it has just become "gunked up" (technical term) from cooking etc. Make sure you are unplugged and disconnect your battery before you do it....there is a live 12vdc feed there......Brian

ok i tried the contact cleaner. the inside temp was 65 and the a/c went on when i slid the stat to 85
it went on and then off at about 62 then on again at about 65 then off then short cycled till the 20 amp breaker in the house tripped.
tomorrow i'm going to buy a battery operated residential thermostat. since the unit worked properly twice before short cycling it seems like a good bet that the thermostat is the problem.
thanx for your replies

Be sure that it is battery operated not battery back-up.

There are many post about replacing the original manufacturer's P=O=S t'stat with a $25 Hunter from Walmart. It is so much better than the OEM. Just do a search for digital thermostat and you will find the instructions.
