See http://www.pahrumpvalleytimes.com/2008/Sep-24-Wed-2008/news/24104566.html

Happened last Friday night. Pahrump, NV. sort of bills itself as a touch of the Old West, as well as Heidi Fleiss (former Hollywood madame) now a resident and in legal problems with Nye County. We come to Pahrump about twice a year and needless to say, it always interesting.

But... but... but.... this kind of thing is only supposed to happen at Walmarts and rest areas, according to the 'experts' here!

On a much more serious note, it sounds like there was a lot of lead flying around this aptly-named CG. I'm sure glad no one else was hurt, and that the officer seems to have no serious injuries. Wonder how many RV's will have to be patched up?

Nope, not just Walmart and rest areas, but a lot of campgrounds that have "permanent" residents. Not the type of place I would stay in anyway. If they allow folks to live there permanently or even long-term, it is no longer a campground but a trailer park.

"Officer safety is the No. 1 priority ...." so much for caring about the citizens.
"There are consequences for violence against police officers." I would think there are consequences period!

edit for: Sorry if my comments don't sit well, but it's how I think.

I have to agree with the "Officer Safety...." If the officer is shot/killed who is going to protect you then? As far as people standing around 'watching the action'.... they are putting themselves in the line of fire. You can't fix stupid.

Yep Officer safety is the No. 1 priority your safety comes way down the list. Its not their job to protect you. Its their job to enforce the law. You have to protect yourself. Unforthally in some states you done even that that right. California comes to mind.

There is a school in that town, well just outside that town call Frontsite. They teach you how to survive and to be proficient and more than that really with all kinds of weapons and unarmed combat in various situations. THey have students in that area and fill the hotels up when they hold their classes. I have seen hudreds of armed (ususally men) men come out and get in their cars and drive to the school and come home again. I was thinking of staying in the campground next time too. I wonder what they will say on this happening in their backyard so to speak.
