If either pump or city water turned on the water in the commode will not stop running. Manual says check for foreign material where valve blade sits in flush hole. None found.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking maybe disconnecting the water line to the commode and adding an on/off water hose and spray. What do you think?

Thanks, Andrea

It is a Thetford Aqua-Magic Low

I had one doing that. I took it apart and it looked OK. Put it back together, it stilled leaked. Bought a rebuild kit and put in it. Problem solved.

It pretty much has to be a leaking seal. Go with the rebuild kit!

The seal in most Thetfords have nothing to do with the water valve.
The water valve or spring is bad.
Aqua magic but which model? II, IV or V?

Thanks guys. I can't find model number. It is a 1989 Thetford Aqua-Magic low. I will never be able to install a new kit by myself. (bad neck and arms) I found the water line in the back....could barely get my hands back there. I am going to take a mirror and flashlight and try to see what kind of connection to take line off. That would stop the water running. Then try and figure out a way for a hose and spray. That I think I could do but what a hassel to use so don't want to.

I checked for rv repair dealer in the area and no one lists toilet repair. Maybe I should drive to a Camping World and buy a new one ....seems like the installation cost might be cheaper than putting a kit in. Does that take long?

Is it the foot pedal area that I take off to put a new kit in? If I had easy access without taking off commode maybe I could try? I am not a quitter by nature.....just don't understand how to do it.

Thanks again, Andrea

If you can remove the water connection, the hardest part of removing the toilet is done. There are two nuts on the base to remove and the toilet will lift up from the closet flange. With it on a bench, installing parts in the toilet is simple.
Maybe a friend could help.

An 89 model is most like an Aqua Magic III if it has a mushroom shaped base.
These were unit rusted the mechanism. It may not be worth putting a new mechanism in it. They are over $125 plus labor.
A replacement Aqua magic V with a foot flush runs about $170. Decision time!

Thanks!!!!! A new one it is!!!! Very helpful info. I am getting ready to head South to Texas so I am still going to try and disconnect the line and dump water in to flush and when I get to a Camping World will pull in and have them do it. (one in Denton, TX just off freeway) Sometimes the labor on new is cheaper.

Thanks again, Andrea
