lesmore, awesome movie news!!! Thanks for that and the links.

A Pirates Of The Caribbean 4!!! I'm speechless...but fortunately can still type .

A fourth movie is beyond comprehension since Depp didn't seem interested in doing sequels before POTC came along. Figured he'd be chomping at the bit to be in contract through one, two, and three, but to re-up for another, surprising but happy to see he's able and willing to do another one.

A person on one of the posts in the links said they'd like to see Geoffery Rush join the cast. I'd agree! Loved his character and performance, so it'd be fun to watch him again.

Doing the happy dance about the fourth Bourne movie!

Not so happy about the Angels and Demons movie news, though it was to be expected.

Not surprised to see he was brought back for the next film, but I didn't care for Tom Hanks in the first movie. Will catch the movie when it comes to video store or pay per view rather than see it on the big screen.

Burton, Depp, and Bonham-Carter together again. I'm so there even though it's Alice in Wonderland.

Lone Ranger movie. That will be different.

Cloud Dancer, I think I saw a picture for Appaloosa in a newspaper or magazine recently. I thought Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen looked like they could be brothers.

You're right, the film has an amazing cast.

lesmore - this is one Lady who wished Sean Connery was still Bond! Pierce Brosnan did an ok job also. Not a fan of Roger Moore, too campy IMO. Haven't seen the new guy yet, so I can't compare, but he doesn't interest me too much!

Sean Connery was probably the best James Bond. He looked the part, very British (Scottish), looked like he would kill the bad guys with no remorse.

Before the new Bond (Craig ?) , the producers had thought of Gerald Butler, another Scottish actor who is physically similar to Sean Connery.

Here's the low down on Butler, although a bit dated, but still good.

Gerald Butler

I think Butler would be better cast as Bond, than Craig.

Depp and Damon are definitely two actors who seem to be good both at choosing their movies and then acting in them. Ninth Gate with Depp and that fine American actor Frank Langella was a great movie. A bit of a horror movie, so not to everyone's taste.

Depp is slated to be in a movie version of Dark Shadows the gothic soap opera of many years ago. Should be another interesting work.

Dark Shadows...the movie

Your favored director , Tim Burton is the man behind the bullhorn on this one.

I've missed seeing the Ninth Gate. Will have to look for it at the video store.

Oohhh, a new Dark Shadows movie. I've watched the 70s movie on Chill channel a couple of times, but I think the Depp/Burton one will blow the other out of water.

Darn, lesmore, I LOVE your movie posts!!! You ARE the Movie Guru on RV.net...and much more on target than Ebert and pals.

Thanks for the plaudits, but I have to admit, my wife is a good source.

Almost 40 years ago when I was an older teenager, I submitted an article to the local paper (circulation about 200,000) for publication. It wasn't about movies, just something I wrote about an interest I held, back then. To my surprise it was published and even better, they actually paid me for the article.

At this time, I was just about to enter University and for a few moments, I thought about submitting a request to the editors to consider me as their movie critic. I liked to write, thought my critical thinking was not bad and certainly liked going to the movies.
I never did which was just as well, as I'm sure my request would of led nowhere.

But I still wonder......

I did some other free lance work for small business publications, etc. and not only enjoyed the work, but also the remuneration. After awhile life led me in different directions as it often does and I guess you could say...that was all she wrote.

However I still enjoy movies and discussing their merits.

Butler as Bond?
No. He looks too crude and alley fighter-ish. You need Swav.
Might as well get "Ice T".
Yo yo yo, Im like Bond,James Bond yo, know what I mean?.......... WORD!

I know, Johnny Depp as Bond. A Bond with a really sick sense of humor. Oh yeah.

Depp is top notch, but doesn't have the physical characteristics of Bond. BTW, Butler in addition to being a close physical type of the best Bond, namely Connery. In fact I've never got the impressionhe is crude and Alley fighterish.

If talk show interviews (Jay Leno, etc.) are anything to judge, I would say he comes across as the opposite in comportment. On these appearances he seems to be a relatively sophisticated, witty individual who interestingly enough, is also Glasgow University graduate in law.
