I have asked questions about where some of you stay in the winter and have gotten several good suggestions none of which I could afford. Eight hundred a month plus electric is a little steep. I can stay in a beach front condo in Myrtle Beach SC for $600. What am I missing?

You are missing warm weather in January and Feb. You are missing sleeping in your own bed and having all your own stuff. You are missing the 'community' that an RV park provides with returning friends each year.

Most snowbirders would be ecstatic at paying only $800 per month!

I agree. I guess it's different stokes for different folks. You can pay whatever you want to pay. There is a place in Kerrville TX that you can stay in their park model for not much more than they charge for a parking place. There are places in Texas that you can stay for less than $350/mo. including electricity and some near free.

there are many places in Arizona that are not in the $800/month catagory. Around Phoenix/Mesa/Apache Junction, many are that much. They are very very nice resorts! heading farther west in Arizona and away from the big city, you will find prices more reasonable. Most parks around Quartzsite/salome/Parker/some in Yuma/Brenda etc are in the 300-450 range. Our park in Brenda is 450/month, but if you take the annual as we do and stay 5 months, that brings our rate to 300.00/month. Reasonable to say the least. Electric is extra. Its all what you want out of a park! Ours has nice club house building/many activities/heated pool/hot tub etc. Some parks have no pool, no structured activities/no amenities..you must decide what you want to do, or an area you want to be close to ..thats my take on the prices..Dona

I stay in St.Petersburg Florida and for a 6 month stay I pay 475$ a month plus elec. It's not what I would call a first class RV Resort but we enjoy it and the people and activitys very much. It's 15 minutes from the beach and more resturants than you could eat at in 6 months. Places like this are hard to find and almost imposable to get resorvatins at but it can be done.

What state do you want to stay in, and how much do you want to spend? I've seen campgrounds and RV parks anywhere from $175 per month on up, so I'm sure there is something out there for you. Just try and avoid terms like "reasonable, affordable, and inexpensive", because these words mean different things to different people. Indicate the price range you are looking for, and what kinds of amenities you're interested in (pool, tennis courts, nothing except showers and restrooms, etc.), and I think people will be able to help out.

We looked at parks in Southern Ca/Palm Springs that were $1600+ per month and settled on a park in Gold Canyon, AZ that is just under $600 per month. Chris

We pay a seasonal rent and could stay for seven months, but choose to stay for six. It works out to $525/month + electric. If we stayed seven, it would be $475. Monthly rates, minus electric, are $585. I don't know a 3 month price, but there is one. We are just southeast of Tampa on the bay side. Heated pool, activities galore, close to golf, shopping, restaurants and the Gulf beaches...we love it.
The condo rent is fine at $600 but I like warmer weather. We were in Myrtle last January visiting and it was downright cold.

Thanks to those that replied. I really can't stay but maybe 6 weeks or so, too many obligations back home. Would like to try the Florida Gulf coast as a first timer. Don't really need a lot of bells and whistles, I have my golf clubs and a motorcycle to go exploring on. That $450 a month sounds about right.
May just come on down and look around
Any way thanks to all.
