Can anyone tell me about Highway 12 from I-15 just south of Provo to I-70 to the Moab road. I am pulling a 13000 pound fifth wheel and was wondering about the grades on that road and the condition of the road.....or should I stay on I-15 right down to I-70 and head east into Moab.
Thanks.

go to google earth, do a trip between the two and it will follow the route showing elevations along the way.

I believe it is hwy 6 that you want to take, I take it all the time down to Green River and Moab, good road, long gradual climbs with passing lanes. There is a little construction going on about 6 miles up the caynon from Spanish Fork. The colors are changing right now, beautiful drive.

Tobylk is right I'll just add I have taken it many times with 35 ft. MH towing a Dodge Dakota with no problems and trucks use that route all the time also. Between Price and I-70 watch for speeders both ways. Have fun

Hi, it is US6 as the privious person has mentioned. I just made the trip from Springville to Moab via US6/191S,I-70E, US191S. The only pull that amounts to anything is coming up to Soldier Summit. It is a long pull, about 4-5 miles, 5-6% grade if memory serves me correct. I'm pulling 25,000LB GCVWR, (no problem) Just settl in and let her pull.
Have a great day!!

Just as an aside, Highway 12 in Utah is a spectacular drive and one that shouldn't be misses when in the area. Here it is....one of several descriptive sites.

We just 'discovered' that route last week (Seattle to Albuquerque). We used to drive across on I70 to Salina, then up to I15. Our Magellen showed the other route so we decided to try it. Much nicer. Soldier Summit area is MUCH easier than the "Reef" on I70 (IMHO). The drive is also prettier and cuts 80mi from the drive.

I took it (Highway 12) just a few weeks ago, and it was very interesting and scenic. Currently down in Southern Utah (near Kanab), but it looks like it is going to be a bit colder at night than I anticipated, and will be moving into the Prescott, Az area soon. (Geez...too bad that canyon is in the way, will have to go around it!)
