Will be staying in Pismo Beach to visit with friends in Arroyo Grande, then need to go to Torrance. Trying to decide where to stay at an overnight rv park while visiting relation in Torrance for the day. We have a 9 lb. dog and have not been in the LA area for 40 years.

Barstow ? Hemet ? Victorville ? Long Beach ? Suggestions.

Will be pulling a 30 ft travel trailer with an SUV. We have figured out everything about our trip from Portland OR to Nashville except for this portion of the trip. Help.

We are traveling down the Road "Side by Side"

Need more info on what specific highways are you planning on using to get to Nashville? Personally I would not drive any closer than Palm Springs or Indio to stay for my visit to Torrance. I avoid driving , in the L.A. area like the plague, especially with my trailer!!!!! It is bad enough driving in the L.A. area just with a car.

We are going to Barstow then on over to Grand Canyon, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Nashville as much on 40 as possible.

Just want to find a safe rv park near the LA area which is pet friendly. Don't really relish the idea of pulling the TT any closer to LA than we have to. There are so many variables in traffic around LA I know that any helps in where to stay overnight while we visit with relation would be most appreciated.

You might try around Pomona or San Dimas, CA. There's a KOA at Fairplex (888-562-4230)in Pomona, and East Shore RV Park (800-809-3778) in San Dimas (both around 45-50 miles from Torrance).

Prices 2-yrs ago $34-52.

Like you, I would avoid LA traffic like the plague.

Assuming you plan on leaving your trailer in an RV Park while you visit relatives in Torrance, I will offer another alternative plan. There is an RV Park called "A country" right off Hwy. 58 in Bakersfield. Coming from Pismo, you will be taking Hwy. 46 straight to Hwy. 99 and south about 15 miles to Hwy. 58. All sites are pull through and very neat, clean and about $30 a night. The park has a pool and laundry. It is located about 4 miles east of Hwy. 99 about 1 block off Hwy. 58. It would be easy to get back to Hwy. 99 and straight down into the L.A. /Torrance area. This would minimize any back tracking towing the trailer. Then you only back track from Torrance back to Hwy. 58 in Bakersfield in your car but then you would just continue east to Hwy. 40 to the Grand Canyon. E-mail privately if you want more detailed information.

The most convenient RV Park for Torrance would be the Golden Shores RV Resort in Long Beach. I have not stayed there, but I have driven by it and it looks nice. There are very little choices in Los Angeles County.
