Hi,
I need your help, an unusual situation is happening right now. I am in a park w/50 amp power, been here almost 2 weeks. No issues. Tonight I notice the interior coach lights are very dim. Voltage meter shows in "normal" range. I am very concerned about what might be happening. I do have power, what should I check? Of course this happens on a Sunday night? I did go to the pedestal, set breaker to off, disconnected/reconnected- no change. Checked inside circuit breakers- seem ok. Also just noticed the lp indicator (usually blinks green) is not showing anything. Please help me out here, I must admit to being pretty shook up.
I would say lights are operating at about 50%. Checked battery strength- showing 7.3. Still connected to elec., should I disconnect.
Kathy

Kathy.
Check your battery voltage. If you don't have a digital voltmeter, ask someone in the park to check the voltage at the battery. I think that you will find that it is very low.

The lights work off of your 12 volt battery. If you have park power as indicated by the meter, most likely your battery charger is not charging. Maybe something as simple as it is turned off??? Or may be a bad battery. Possibly a blown fuse in the battery charger circuit. Whatever, the problem is your battery is going dead!!!
I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.....

There are fuses and possibly in line circuit breakers between your converter and the batteries. It could be one of those. I have (well in my years around rv's between my folks and myself) had this happen three times. In all cases it was the converter gone bad. Just happened four weeks ago on my current rig. I had a similar issue. Noticed my battery voltage dropping even though I was plugged in.

If you need to get power to your batteries to get through the night, (you might loose your fridge if the propane detector shuts down and your detectors will start beeping)Start and run your engine for a while and this will bring the batteries up. This will also give you a hint as to whether or not it's that batteries or the fact that they are not charging.
Ultimately, if you can't diagnose it yourself, you will have to get it in for service.

I had a very similar problem recently. It turns out that the batteries and my 100 amp charger were fine.
IT WAS THE HOUSE-BATTERY DISCONNECT SOLENOID/RELAY. I had it replaced and the problem went away.
If your batteries are indeed low of voltage, that would indicate a problem with their charger - whatever that is, such as a converter or a combination charger/inverter, like I have.
I'd ask someone in the park to help you find the problem and then you will possibly know how to get it fixed. You might also ask some kind hearted soul to lend you a battery charger that you can connect to the AC on the power pedistal. That would let you get through the night with some 12 volt electricity for important stuff.

This happened to me in my new cougar. My converter went out and was not charging the battery. Had to replace the converter . I had a battery charger with me and hooked it up to keep the battery charged. until Monday when the dealer opened.
