I have '08 Roo 233 and the converter doesn't seem to be charging the battery.
When on shore power the guage reads full power. When disconnect from shore power, the trailer is dead inside. nothing.

I have flipped the breaker and I can hear the fan run on the converter for a few seconds. Its worked fine up until this weekend and that makes me wonder if there is a fuse or something that I need to check.

Any thoughts?
thanks

There is probably a fuse near your battery that has blown or in the converter DC section.

There's a 50 amp (?) fuse in the little green box shown in this photo. It's under the trailer near where the umbilical cord junction box (shown open) is located.

There are also two 40a battery protection fuses on the DC power distribution panel.

Thanks Chuck.

I did check the 40 amp fuses with a test light and they are good. That was with shore power, but that should tell me if the fuse is bad.

I also looked under the trailer and see the steel junction box as you have shown in your picture, but I didn't see the green inline fuse. I will take another look tonight.

Also, I will add that the battery connection was loose and I tightened it up. Left the trailer plugged in all night (15+ hours) and its still not charging. Probably a fuse somewhere just didn't know where to look. Maybe the loose connection tripped the fuse.

I knew that something wasn't working right when the fan on the converter only ran for a couple seconds after cycling the breakers. What I have seen in the past is that it runs when the battery needs charging.

Thanks for you input and I will report back on the progress.
Cheers

Have you tried just putting the battery on a charger and see what kind of read you get? Perhaps the battery is bad (won't take a charge).

Also be sure the battery wires are to the correct poles. White is ground (-), black or red is positive (+). Reverse wiring will blow one or several fuses.

There may even be a circuit breaker under there, it's been a while since I crawled under the trailer. Trace the black wire back from the battery box and see where it enters the trailer.

Let us know what you find.

Hi,
I traced the wires with a test light and found where it stops. There is a little grey box just under the front of the trailer that has power to 1 side but not out the other.

What is this?

If I jumper over the two posts, I get power inside the trailer from the battery. Can I just jumper over this?

No, that is a circuit breaker. You should replace it. Check size, should be embossed on it.

That's a self-resetting circuit breaker. That failed to self-reset. Probably 50 amps (since the internal fuses are 40) but do what Bud says and check the amperage. They're cheap so buy two.

Murphy's Law of Available Spare Parts insures you'll never need the spare.

I have a dim recollection of this happening to someone else in the past year, but it doesn't appear to be common.

Thanks... I will run out tomorrow and get a couple.

Just curious, you say its self-resetting.. is there anyway I can get it to reset if I am stuck? disconnect the battery for example?

or if it didn't reset by now its screwed?
