I spend a lot of time in front of the desk-top computer and I've had a heck of a time finding a comfortable chair. Most of them do a number on my lower back and cut off the circulation in my legs. I try to take frequent breaks and jump on the treadmill a couple times a day to walk things out, but I sure would like to find a comfortable, supportive chair.

Any ideas???

I have a really bad back. One thing I did that helped a lot was remove the slide out under the desk for the keyboard. I use the keyboard on top of the desk and it forces me to sit up straighter. As far as a better computer chair I will be watching this thread too.

Only suggestion is to visit a good office suppply.. Be advised a good office chair may set you back a bunch of money.. The one I use cost about 300 bucks IIRC

The better chairs do cost more but they do a lot more, too. One thing you might try....sit at the desk, and make sure your wrists are positioned correctly for typing (not bent). Now -- observe....do your feet sit flatly on the floor? If not, put a foot rest under your feet. This may require a home made stool....but you can find adjustable ones at a good office supply store. Your feet should be flat on the floor with your thighs straight out...Hope I've explained this correctly. The better more expensive chairs will tilt forward so your feet sit right...I don't like them...they make me feel like I'm sliding right off the chair.

Good luck!

My vote is for the Herman Miller Aeron chair. Expensive, but well worth it.

Aeron's are good depending on your size. They come in three frame sizes (A, B, and C). I bought a used "C" for $500 and the seat was stretched out, so I was basically sitting on the metal bars. Very uncomfortable. I took it back and got a different one.

Go to a business that actual furnishes entire buildings and look around for what you like. They'll have a lot of options. . . usually used and new.

Oh, wow. That sucks. Everyone here has a "B" size. I am in the "B to C" range according to their chart, but I haven't noticed my chair being stretched out any in the 3 years that I have been using it.

My Sam's club chairs are killing me. I need a better one, but those Aeron's are a little bit too much for my budget. (I have to buy two, I cannot just buy one, as her majesty would feel slighted, and there would be another fox jacket in the closet).

My boss has one of these, actually 2, one at the office and one at her home. I cant' stand them.

I would suggest going to an office supply store and trying each one until you find one you like. Every chair "fits" differently and what might be good for one person may not be good for another. At our office, every chair is different. We let the employees choose which chair they like and then it becomes their chair for their desk. If someone working in the office doesn't like a chair, we will buy them a new one. Confort in the office in very important to productive work habits.
