Tomorrow we are scheduled to leave Ohio for Jekyll Island GA.
I75 to Knoxville, 640 to 40, 26 to 95S.
Are we going to be able to get gas without being stoned to
death for pulling a class a motor home into a gas station???
Or are we getting sucked into a panic created by the media???

Not a media created gas shortage. We have many areas here in N Georgia that have little or no gas at the stations. Friday last, I stopped at a major intersection on I-85 and EVERY station that I checked at was out. (5) I figured it was taking more gas than I had to spare to check the rest and there was not traffic in and out of them so I headed to the country. Found gas in a small town and was able to buy 7 gallons.
Suppliers are saying the gas will be back by the end of the week, but right now people are buying it as fast as the trucks roll into the stations.
Situation is a bit better southern part of the state (I understand) Good luck!

We're not going to be anywhere near Atlanta,
We start heading east at Knoxville, then south on 95, those
are the areas we're worried about.

We have sons that live in the Knoxville area and they say there is no problems getting gas. Now in Georgia there are major shortages, especially in and around the Metro Atlanta area and that would probably include some of your travel. You could try the different websites for news like www.11alive.com, www.wsbtv.com for gas news. We are supposed to leave for Townsend TN next week and hopefully will have the gas to go. They are saying that by the end of this week or next week, problems should be over. But people are panic buying and causing the long lines and shortages, plus you are limited at many stations in how much you can buy.

No it's 'true' and sadly it really is only seriously presented on TV in the states its happening in. which makes it somewhat hard for the RV'ers to plan travel.

I'm in Nashville now and they are saying shipments are being promised for today for the southern and southeaster states. I made sure I filled up in Kentucky and kept it topped off as I headed south.

Here is a link to my same question and responses from people in the area.

I live in Northeast Georgia and have no problem with gas. However, every station does not always have gas or every grade. Closer to Atlanta and its congestion gas gets scarce. My son was in South Georgia over the weekend and said every station he passed seemed to have fuel. Just keep stopping when you are around half a tank, avoid Atlanta, and you will be fine.

Reminds me when I had a VW Rabbit diesel in the early 1980's. When traveling, I started to look for fuel when the gauge said half, because diesel wasn't as prevelant then and the little tank could empty quick!

The trend now is the stay-cation, at least that's what the media says.

Here at the junction of I-26 and I-40, most of our stations seem to have at least one grade of gas and no lines, tho' at high prices... I paid $4.299 for regular this morning, tho' I saw it at $4.199 later in the day. But they at least have gas and no lines, unlike the past 10 days - 2 weeks. So I think things are getting back to normal, at least in WNC.
