Hi,
Thanks for all the posts concerning my battery drain on shore power. In the light of day and without rain, I again checked the converter/elec bay. I found an electrical plug behind the converter, and it was not all the way in the socket. I did check last night in the dark and rain, but did not see this plug. I've been here for 2 weeks-how did that plug jump out of it's socket? Crazy. With my very limited skill I pushed it in and wallah- the battery volt indicator jumped to 13.0 instantly. Could it be that simple? i'm not sure if the problem is fixed, but it seems to be. I do have an app't with cummins rv tech tomorrow-should I have him check the 4 6 volts to make sure I didn't damage them? Other than being embarrassed and feeling pretty dumb, is there anything else concerning the batteries I should have the tech check? Kathy

I guess it could be that simple. Not an electrician here but sounds like something I would find and do

With me and electrical issues, most often just FINDING the problem is the hardest part....the fixing part is easy.
Now, about that burned out light bulb...lol

Glad you got it fixed, when we first got our MH, we could not figure out why only one AC worked on shore power, checked everything then discovered that the power cord is a push in and twist lock to MH, it was not twisted in, everything has been working fine for over a year now.

Kathy No. You should feel like a genius for fixing the problem, good job. There is one other thing you should check if you have not done it and that is the water level in the batteries, which should be checked at least once a month.

Glad you found it.. Rule one on any problem is check those kind of things
Rule 2 is Routine maintenance
Then it gets complicated

Sam's advice (as always) is good. Just be careful when working around batteries. If in doubt, ask.

Don't feel bad. I just spent $700 on an upgrade to the exhaust brake, only to find out the old one simply WASN'T WORKING! And it was because of a piddling bad ground on the control relay. Feel better now?
You can read the entire saga here: Pacbrake PRXB upgrade. (Here goes!!) The good news is that it was worth it in the end.
Another story: we got stranded in Baker Oregon last winter. It was COLD too! The problem?!? A corroded fuse holder for the transmission computer. It took days for the techs at Woodpecker Truck in Pendleton to find it because the fuse was hidden under the battery tray. (After towing it 200 miles to get it there too)
Just about ALL electrical problems are that way... you can spend hours (and hours) trouble shooting, and in the end, it comes down to a simple bad connection or unplugged whatever.

It's unlikely that your batteries were damaged if they will charge back up to where you can use them. The 6 volt batteries, by the way, are hooked up so that your total voltage for the MH is 12 volts. When fully charged, the batteries should read 12.6 - 13.0 volts. With the charger operating, the voltage will be slightly higher.
