With the change over to digital next year my question is, "will the old VCR's still work?" I can not program in a channel with a decimal.

I assume you are talking about a VCR connect to an Over-the-air antenna.
I believe the answer is "Yes" and "No."
You would definitely need a converter between the antenna and the VCR. Since the current converters require you to select the channel form the converter, you would have to set the coverter to the correct channel and program the VCR to record on that channel. If you are in the habit of watching one channel and recording another, it would not work. If you like to program the VCR to record from one channel, switch to another and record again, it would not work without someone being there to switch the conver to the second channel.
Perhaps someone will make a programmable converter.

I will second that Yes and No, he explained it well
You can record the output of a converter
I'm hoping VCR+ people (Also known as TV-Guide it turns out) come out with VCR+ units that can control a converter

You use a converter turned on and set to the channel you want to record and use the VCR in Line setting to record.

No, VCR's will not be able to tune in over the air signals after Feb '09 just like the TV's. You would lneed a converter.

For now, the digital boxes with analog pass-through will let you record one channel on the VCR (or DVD recorder like I use with a re-write DVD disc in it) and watch another program at the same time.
After Feb, 2009 it most likely will not work for all our stations, but some of the tiny transmitter stations in our area may not be converting to digital. That is why we chose boxes with analog pass-through. So we can still view both.
