From some one who had to deal with SF on a daily basis because I ran a body shop for many years, They were one of the most customer driven companies out there. There adjusters are all employees of SF and they are mobile. One I know is in Texas right now. He is only home 1 weekend a month over a period of nine months. Since I have been out of the body shop business for four years, SF has taken a major nose dive. Were my shop used to be a SF pro-shop, my buddy who runs the shop now hopes SF insured folks don't even come in. And that's after over 25 years of dealing with SF.
It's just like everything else, you have some good and some bad experiances. I still Have SF, but not on my RV.

and Honorman, how much medical coverage did YOUR policy have to cover you? perhaps it should have been more and you should fuss at your agent for that.

Bumpyroad,
Why should my insurance have to pay for State Farms mess.
What happened is State Farm left me with no insurance at all,
Medicare will not pay for medical in a case like this and State Farm
won't pay for your medical either. they said they will pay the medical when a settlement is reached.
So that meant I had to pay $4500.00 out of my pocket, and not go to some Doctors because of the cost.
MY insurance after 3 months did pay my medical up to that amount ,and when I sue and get a settlement I will have to pay them back.
SO not only do you have to Sue the other driver and State Farm, you are left without insurance, EVEN medicare.
That tells you a lot about State Farm, and anyone with it should take
notice before State Farm gets you sued.

It will be one year ago next Friday that a motorist insured by State Farm pulled out in front of me while I was traveling on a US highway on my Harley. By the Grace of God, I am alive today. My insurace company (not State Farm) reacted appropriately. State Farm, in my opinion, wished I had died because they certainly treated me that way. I will not clutter this forum with my details, but I will never say anthing positive about State Farm Insurance. I'm happy to be alive.

Don't forget State Farm is ALSO involved in lending. Almost all the State Farm offices jumped on the band wagon when they opened up who could be a lender. They have their pants full with bad mortgage loans too.......and how do you think they are going to recoop that money? Watch and see what happens to vehicle rates after we see just who the bailout helps and who they don't.

I did not find out that medicare does not pay when you are in an accident that is not your fault, until it happened to me.
I don't know why. But The reason State Farm won't pay is probably to get you to settle sooner, to pay medical bills.
They also asked my age when they called and offered the $1000.00
that is so if they hold out long enough though their lawyers you might die and then they will not have to pay.
I did not just complain and try to inform you other people about State Farm and about medicare , But I told them what I thought of them.
I have had Shelter and Farm bureau insurance to pay good, both injured
and property damage and pain and suffering.

OK, I would "guess" that it might have something to do with the fact that Medicare considers the autoinsurance personal injury or some such to be the primary insurance and coverage should come out of that first?
not totally far fetched??? but I would think that eventually it would trickle down to them to pay if not elsewhere covered???

I just went over all my insurance needs with my State Farm Agent. For the personal items in the trailer, your homeowners will cover that. As long as you have the homeowners policy your personal items are covered, once you sell the house you'll have to get different insurance.
Only thing I disagreed with my agent on was raise my deductible. If I'm in an accident with both truck and trailer, I pay two deductibles out of pocket. Plus,I have the Good Sam insurance for one reason. If my truck quits, State Farm will not tow the trailer under the towing part of the truck policy. It's worth the $99 or so to Good Sam just in case.
About 7 years ago, my pop-up was just 4 months new to me, hail damage to both truck and trailer. SF did the estimate on the truck, wrote me a check. Told me to take the trailer to my choice of trailer dealers. SF wrote me a check for what the trailer dealer estimated, no problems.

I raised my deductible quite a bit myself and the premiums came down a bit. The little things I will take care of out of pocket and really just have insurance to cover the big stuff. don't want to nickle and dime my insurance company, as I am sure it will come back to haunt me.
I just remembered when I was considering moving to Texas I checked with a state farm agent down there. They would not write home owners for me unless I was already a customer in the state I was in. too many problems with mold and shifting soil IIRC. At that time I don't think you could have an exclusionary limited mold policy, I think that has changed now.
