We were at Graveyard Fields at ~MP 419 on the BRP a few days ago, a little above 5,100'. There were strong reds and burgundies and some yellows among the greens, maybe 10% - 15% changed. There were some good but isolated colors below that. A cool front has moved thru since, so there should be more color now.

I'm about 60 miles away and at 3500 feet and colors are increasing more and more almost as I watch. I'm north of Asheville on the side of a mountain. Temp was down to 37* this AM.

This is a site you want to bookmark. Once the leaves start to turn they provide a weekly report. This link will take you to the VA, NC, TN status, but you can also check progress for Midwest and Northeast -- and look at the historical info for all three areas.

outheast-us&Itemid=72">South East Foliage Report

Well the link looks a little funny but it works.. guess I maxed out on the length.

Here is the link to the main menu so you can inquire on any area.

Maggie Valley is starting to turn colors. A few trees have completely, others are starting to turn and some haven't started yet. It's very patchy, but is still another week before you arrive, so there will be more colors by then. The nights are in the 30's to 40's now with daytime highs in the 60's and 70's. The tourists have started to arrive to leaf peep.

I'm following this link closely , we will be down from MD. Oct.23-Oct.27 and staying at Pride RV Resort in Maggie Valley. We are towing our pup and meeting up with friends from TN who will staying in a cabin there. Thanks for the link, will keep checking in. Have a great time, please let us know about your trip when you return. Im looking for ideas of places to drive and some short hikes in the area. A friend that lived down that way told me about the beautiful water falls so that will definately be on our list of things to see and do. Oh yeah and the wild elk, heading to the park in hopes of spotting them as well. Ok Im rambling lol Be safe and enjoy your trip....

Hi Neighbor,
My wife and I will be riding our bikes along the Toe River tomorrow.
If you see us beep and give us a wave.
We live over at the base of Fork mountain at elev 3200 feet.
Are we in God's land or what ?
