My trailer was bought with four Marathon 225/75 R15 load range C tires. On the last trip one of the tires was seperating so I went to the local tire shop and all he had was one Maxxis load range D tire. Of course I had him install it and all is good. Now I would like to replace the other three. Technicly all I need is C rated tires but I like the way the D rated sits under the trailer. I was right at the max on the C rated tires. I will have to order the other three Maxxis D rated tires or I could get four Carlisle E rated tires and Keep the one Maxxis D rated tire as a spare. Any thoughts on the Maxxis D rated tire vs. the Carlisle E rated tire for my situation?

Thanks,

I just put Maxxis E's on my 5er. I think they are the better tire.

With 2 blowouts in 600 miles and the other 4 Marathons bubbling and separating, we replaced all 6 with Maxxis Es. Much happier and safer now......

Unless your rims are rated 80 psi you should get Maxxis load range D. If your rims are rated 80 psi get the Maxxis load range E and forget the Carlisles. Maxxis is probably the best 15 inch ST tire there is. Very few, if any, negative comments about Maxxis ST tires. The same cannot be said about the Carlisles. A search on "Carlisle tires" on this forum will provide you with much insight.

After having a brand new Marathon blow out, I purchased Denman E rated and opted for new rims. Personally, I would have gone to 16 inch rims if I would have been able to fit them on our rig!

Sure is confusing for us that are looking to replace them before heading South for the winter...I have a hard time finding a source for Maxxis in Alabama.

You can have them delivered to your door after ordering them from various online tire stores or by ordering them direct from the Maxxis store at Maxxis.com.

If your trailer weighs less than 9000 loaded, the Maxxis D will do the job, especially if your rims can only handle 65 pressure.

My Marathons were separating too and I replaced them with Maxxis. Haven't had any trouble yet.
