All I can say is that someone must be really stupid if you can't figure out how to work your TV and surround system, Day and night Shades, your fuse panel, your Smoke and LP detectors, your awning, etc. How long does it take someone to explain to me the slide, the propane, the black and gray tanks how to use the stove, (Hello) Turn the gas on and light. OH and the Fridge, now that is really hard. push button in for Electric, push and let button out for Gas (it is written on the Fridge). All I am saying is that it is not the dealers job to wait while I try out everything in the RV. If I don't trust my dealer then I wouldn't buy from him. Give me an overview and if I have questions later I will call.

You will learn a lot more information right here and asking folks questions while camping. I would also get the cell number of either the salesman or inspection guy. Good luck. Do stay calm, the folks on here can tell you how to fix any problem you have. If not, they will at least tell you how bad you messed it up! You will be fine.

We are on our 5th new RV in 12 years. We own both a 3 year old TT and a new to us Class C that we just purchased a few weeks ago. We had about 20 minutes of instruction on the Class C. All Travel Trailers were from the same dealer and all were new. We buy 2 new cars every 3 years. You just don't need hours upon hours of instructions if you can read.

I must be stupid.
It doesn't take long for them to tell me what I have, it takes time to check if everything WORKS. The TV/stereo was connected via co-ax and wasn't taking advantage of the component video cabling features of the DVD player and sat rcvr. I made them rewire it. I worked every one of the day-nights and found a frayed string that had caught under a screw during installation. I know what detectors do but I tested every single function. I tested every outlet with a polarity tester. I found a leaky drain. I bought a DP which I had never owned before so I got to walk around it and look into manuals and find the filters, fuse panels, etc and ask the techs the next day where everything was including the fuse for the ECU for the engine and trans.
You do it your way, I'll do it mine.
All items fixed and all questions answered the next day.

Failed English in the third grade. You must be one lucky person to have a dealership that is PERFECT. Im happy for you.
And all these hundreds of posts by new rv owners who have problems that SHOULD have been caught in the PDI, are the unluckyest people in the world , right ? or is it they just cant read? Or are they supposed to repair what the dealer should have done?

We were complete newbies so we stayed at the dealer (Parliament Coach) for four nights and just learned all sorts of stuff. Then drove from Tampa to Boston with the whitest knuckles ever seen on a human.
Second time around I'd still want at least 1 full day

How long it SHOULD take depends a lot on you... If it's your very first Motor Home or delux trailer figure 2-4 days, I'm not kidding, there is a lot to learn
In my case I did a bunch of research, read the owner's manual in advance of receiving the rig, read a bunch of other manuals and got the 30 minute special
I did not find out till later how much I missed but I think I filled in most of the gaps
Do pay special attention to the location of fuses and circuit breakers.. I'm still finding some of the more hidden ones.. Also ask where pipes run.. (So you know what to keep warm if it gets suddenly chilly out)
And do not loose the URL for this forum!!!!!!!!!!!

My last fiver that I purchased last year took approximately 1 hour for the PDI. I had done my homework on my fiver while it was being made at the factory and knew more about the rv than the rv tech that was demonstrating it. It was completely set up with electric and water/sewer hookedup. Was very easy to check everything very quickly and everything worked as it was supposed to and so far it still needs nothing. I thoroughly understand my fiver and am concerned the buyers on this post taking 4 days to do a simple PDI is one of the reasons dealers are going out of business and they want 40% discount also.

We just traded our 5th wheel for a new motorhome. It took me about 3 hours to go over and run all he systems with a delivery tech. We ran everything from the ice maker to the thermo-pumps to the flush macerator and I looked at every nook & cranny. Like wa8yxm stated, if it's your first rv, there's a lot to learn.
