'My Documents' is a system variable that actually points to 'C:\Documents & Settings\username\My Documents' - the username refers to the name of the user logged on the computer.

you need to map a network drive to the my documents on the other computer you want to sync, then you just browse to it locally like it was another disk drive on the computer, then you can do your links and syncs
you can do it also through network neighborhood, but my way is a bit easier
