Is anyone using AVG Free and getting "Unavailable at this time" when trying to access it for a Virus check? I've been using it since about last March with no problems and now all at once when I click on the Icon on my screen I get the above message and am unable to do a Scan.
Thanks for any help.

I think so but I'll double check to see. There's been so many updates so many places I'm really not sure what I've done. Thanks.

Is the automatic file update manager activated (checked) for current virus information?

If the update manager is checked and if on AVG overview page has the notation in green that you are protected, the software should be working. If not, try to manually update. If that works, then AVG should work.
Perhaps the message was about being unable to access the updates?
Otherwise, then the simplest is to just download the program and reinstall.

Are you running a firewall like Zone Alarm? Try shutting it down, then running the update, and see if it works. Might help to determine where the hang up is.

No firewall that but what has been in use since AVG was first downloaded. Can't even get AVG to come on so I can check on the automatic manager. Thought about starting over by downloading AVG again but didn't know what would happen. Real novice here. Thanks for the suggestions. May just have to do the download again as I'm nervous not knowing if I'm still protected or not.

It is working for me at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday October 7. I just had an update do its thing. Sometimes I have difficulty getting into AVG, the computer will say the update has failed due to lack of connection, but I try again and it works.
