That's right. He probably carries it just to weigh him down so he won't blow away in case a strong wind comes along............

Definetly file a securtiy alert or freeze on your credit with the credit reporting agencies (Experian,Trans Union and Equifax). Keep a copy of the police report you might need it in the future.

One thing I always do when grocery shopping is use the carts with the straps to fasten the kids in. Instead I use those to tie my purse straps in. I figure if is more of a challenge they may not be interested in me. The other thing is that I have a small wallet and usually put that in a pocket because the kids keep me quite distracted at the stores.

As far a concealed weapon it is not so easy to get one of those permits in the state of California. The other problem might be is that the thieves would have probably gotten her purse and a gun also that was registered in her name.

I glad you only came out with some bumps and bruises.

Here come the anti gun nuts to get the thread shut down. God forbid you defend yourself. I am so glad I live in Florida where homeowners now have a chance and the average citizen can get a concealed carry permit.

May they find the crooks and send them to the house of contemplation.

Glad your OK.

That's the main reason I don't carry a purse.

I seldom carry a purse - and I'm a woman. I feel like a purse advertises to anyone interested: "Hey - everything of value is packed in this one, unsecure bag". And a designer purse says "I'm rich, too!"

I usually wear clothes with pockets - and my keys, ID and credit cards will easily fit into those. I figure if I don't offer an easy target, the thieves might go find someone who looks like a more likely victim.

The reality is that people have not just become desperate. These types of situations have been going on for years.

As mentioned be aware of the situation and turn around if something looks funny. Unless they quickly drive up and block you just be aware. Calling the police if something looks suspicious is a good suggestion.

I think it's probably time to follow the old addage "follow your gut"
If something feels off it probably is and in these times I'm sure there
will be more of these occurances, so it wouldn't hurt to back off and ask for help.
Glad your ok.

Lived north of Atlanta for many years and it's always been a big problem with a woman shopping alone. Glad you're safe, but it is annoying losing personal items in your purse.

I always carry my purse close by my side, but don't drive myself anywhere alone anymore. But when I did, I always had my keys ready and if even a hint of a problem, could hit the panic button on the key fob.
