Speaking of gasoline prices .... who's going to be the first to post a link showing where we go to get our Class A/B/C motorhomes inexpensively modified for flex fuel use?
California will get it's first E85 stations very soon. I sure would like to get my MH's E450 V10 tweaked to use regular or E85 and still have it's Ford warranty be valid.

If the price of oil declines a little further, you can forget about flex fuels, ethanol and all of the rest.
Can you remember the seventies?
For a while every one was driving a puddle hopper, burning wood and all of the rest.
As soon as the shortages ended, back to the big cars , no more wood burning.
It will be the same this time, people have the attention span and memories of three years olds.
Wouldnt supprise me if the big gas guzzlers sitting on the lots soon start to move.

"It will be the same this time,.."
I hope not. That's what's wrong and has to be fixed in some other way other than letting "gas prices float up".
We need gas prices to be kept low for the millions of us that have gas guzzlers ( i.e. motorhomes, single moms with junkers, etc.) so we can afford to continue driving them into the ground and not really having to buy a new one until we can somehow afford to do so. IN THE MEANTIME for all who might want to or are able to buy a new car starting ASAP, we need ultra-stringent new vehicle laws requiring high mileage/electric/fuel cell designs so that any new car sold must automatically be fuel stringent to the max.
This will permit us to have our cake and eat it too ... low fuel prices at the same time combined with only very high mileage vehicles being available at the dealers.

Nothing. Refining costs are still up, transportation costs are still up. Takes a while for this to work out. Buy oil company stocks, quit complaining and buy a new RV from those gross profits. Or you can go with the OP idea of socializing everything and then we will be able to all get a new government issued RV and our ration of gas to travel with.
Right on JIH!

The price of a commodities are usually subject to marginal demand. A 5% shortage can raise prices 100% or 1000%, depending on how much those last few customers are willing to pay, to not do without.
Similarly, a 5-10% surplus can cause prices to drop 30% to 80%, depending on what the marginal seller is willing to take to keep up his cash flow, particularly if different sellers have wide differences in cost of production. High cost producers just pull out of the market, low cost producers just sell at a lower price.

Oil was trading about $79 last week.
At the same time, Gas was at $2.40 and Home Heating Oil (DIESEL) was at $2.60.
I think this "crash" is the best thing since sliced bread.
LOTS of prices dropping.
BTW - Oil has dropped but prices are SLOW to follow.
Why is it that price INCREASES can be seen within 24 hours, but Decreases are like cold molasses???
Any little event and the price jumps IMMEDIATELY.
Now THAT would be a good "investigative report" for the media.

Do you seriously want these jokers (up on the hill ) to regulate anything. We have law after law on the books that if enforced would start to put these greedy so and so's in line. We won't go after the real culprits the people that we put in places to watch out for us , thay line their pockets with contributions from the very people that we need to watch.
More government regulation ? no thanks not untill we can seat a government for the people and by the people.

I highly doubt oil prices are ever going to be even $40 a barrel again unless the US and the world see another great depression.
If oil prices get low enough folks will start using more and prices will go up again. Folks certainly traveled a lot more when gas was $2 a gallon versus $4 a gallon. There is some demand change due to more high MPG vehicles on the road, but RVs still get low MPGs.

Yep ..... just like the government jokers did in Canada that so far has made their banking system almost unaffected by this US mess. I trust government rules way more than I do private greed .... at least government rules are published so I can know what they are year after year ..... unlike the secret golf course and steam room agreements that certain executives have been making here in the US for years.
