During our first six months, we enjoyed a wooden deck (that my husband made). It was great because I have some balance probblems and trying to get on board with the 5th wheel which the nonlevel grounds leaves higher in the air, I've had a few "flights" off the landing pad.
However, now that we have moved out into the 'cold real world of fulltiming', our RV Park does not allow such frivalties as entryway steps, etc. (unless you are an amputee)-- but we have enough other amenities to keep us here rather than bug out (ie. indoor year round pool and spa).
In either Hiways or Trailer Life we'd seen an advertisement for a metal steps that were assembled to create a small porch area prior to entering your RV.
Does anybody remember where we might have seen that or know who might make it?
Thank you all and happy RVing!

I bought these because my wifes sister had a hard time with the standard steps. It folds flat and if your going to be in one spot for awhile it is worth the effort to set up. portable porch
I wish I had some pictures to show you. I made steps out of 3/8 plywood in sections that would slide onto the metal steps and would be supported by them. They were very light and easy to handle. I then made a floater bottom piece that would just sit on the ground. I was then able to shim the bottom step if the area was un level. It works out great, takes seconds to set up and I store it right inside the door when we travel. Sorry again about no pictures.(I need to setup with photobucket)
Don't like the view?? Then change it and Go Camping
Speaking of decks, and I don't mean to hijack your post, but does anyone remember several years back when there was a manufacturer that made an RV with an electric deck? I saw this at an RV show many years ago. It was on rails under a TT or 5er (can't remember which) and a button similar to a slide switch activated it. It was actually pretty big too. I havent seen anything like it since. Is there someone out there that still does this? If memory serves me correct, which it probably does not, it made it alot easier for entry and exit.....
Our Newmar Mountain AIre has an electric slide out porch with fold up/down railing. The porch is about 3' X 3' and the steps are 3' wide. Sure makes entry/exit easier!
DrGrenelle, I think this may be closer to what you had in mind. I know I have bad knees, and I am wishing we had one of these. As for the first step, we do have a platform to supplement where we are camped that has a big drop at the entry, and my husband had replaced the original entry steps with a lower rise, 4 step model which has helped.
Not sure what is allowed and what is not where you are now but there is a product called Add-A-Step by Coil n Wrap. Also Camping World has some very stable platforms that may help.

I'm not sure if what I use would work for you, but thought I'd suggest them. I purchased a set of "spa/hot tub" steps, they are lightweight, wide and are much better that the original single step that is on my Sunline. They weigh about 18 lbs, and I just slide them inside the door when I'm ready to travel.

Do you know who manufactures this step or where did you buy it?
Thanks

We use a PetStep (ramp) for both my wife, and our aged GSD, both of which can't easily do stairs. I use a milk crate under the center for added support. Works great.
