Reading this post I found myself in roughly the same situation as ccinj. We just often don't have the time to hook up and go for a weekend. Sometimes it seems that the annual vaction to Chautauqua County, NY (ok, Pope Haven/Randolph is technically in Cattaraugus County, but the family is all in Chautauqua Co.) and a Labor Day retreat to MO/IL/KY for a family reunion is the only time we really use the RV.
We just bought a new Jayco JayFlight 28BHS and I'd like to use it more, not just let it set in a storage lot for months at a time. I think we probably get better use if we are able to pretty much leave it set up, ready to camp, at a place convenient and enjoyable and close to home, while still being able to hook it up and go when those vacation times come around.
What are your thoughts on the idea; pros vs. cons?
Any suggestions for seasonal campground sites in central Kentucky? Ideally, waterfront on Herrington Lake comes to mind. Any opinions on Chimney Rock RV Park?
Try Bailey's Point. It an Army Corps of Eng. campground on Barren River Lake. We stayed there for a couple of nights when we were just ambling around this summer. Good spot - lots of waterfront sites.
Baileys Point (KY)

Glasgow KY 42141-9683
From Glasgow, KY: Take 31-E south for 15 mi to Hwy 252. Turn right, go 1.5 mi to Hwy 517, turn right and follow signs to entrance. Approximately 19 miles southwest of Glasgow, KY.
Watch out if you are trying to use a GPS to get there, though. If I remember right, that's the CG that has a new entrance and the GPS database is old. we ended up having to back up a quarter mile! Use the old fashioned method.... a map.
