I know there's a list here somewhere but when I search nothing comes up. Suggestions?

You should search for 'four down', no 'flat footed'.

Motor Home Magazine has Dingy guides from 2002 to present. For older than that you will have to rely on the forum.

Go to Remco Towing. They have a spot in the center of their home page that gives a listing of the cars with their engine/transmission combos and can tell what you will need to tow.

Might want to pay close attention to details, like how long or how far you can tow a vehicle you were considering. DW and I looked at a few (sorry--I don't recall which ones) prospects, we were told some sort of "yes-but..." about towing; "yes-but" every 200 miles we recommend starting it & idling in D for a few minutes--that sort of thing.

I've read plenty of "assurances" that nobody ever drives far enough, nonstop, yada-yada-yada, don't worry about it. If I had confidence in that, I would not be offering any contribution here. The only SURE thing once you're out on the road is that you only know what you're driving-into, as far ahead of yourself as you can actually see. How far past that--might you be inspired to keep rolling as best you can, maybe more than 4 hours/200 miles, REALLY not wanting much to pull over & stop to nursemaid a too-frail Toad? What are the chances anything you can imagine--would put you in such a fix? OK, how many times would it need to happen?

Our little '95 Tracker has no such limit on how far it can be towed 4-down. I'd thought that defined a suitable vehicle for a Toad; like being pregnant, either one IS or one ISN'T. Then I met these dealers who wanted to make a sale, and THEY wanted the language to become a bit more flexible. I suspect they haven't given up.

mine of that vintage DID require starting every 200 miles. didn't bother me a bit. I want to stop more often than that anyhow. In fact I used to annoy the wife by starting it every 50-100 miles.
don't let that sway your decision IMHO if that is required by the toad you desire.

Ford Edge... No fuses, not muss no fuss. Just hook it up, Netural, Towing lights and go... Some Saturns need a fuse pulled.

WE really like the way the Ford Edge tows...

My $.02...

YMMV
