Going from Colorado Springs to Pagosa Spring via 160 is the way I have mapped it out. So what kind of a road is this? Is it a white knuckle drive?

Anne chill out, it's not bad at all. Just a long climb on one side, not real curvy, (east side). West side is a little twisty though.....

Been so busy the last couple weeks, and didn't know for sure if we'd even have an RV, we completely forgot to make reservations. Will try to do that on the 4th.....

I'm the passenger so doesn't bother me at all. Sounds like my kind of road to enjoy the sites on. Dick is used to those type of roads as it seems I always manage to find those for him to drive on.
See ya all in a couple of weeks.

My itinerary --- Staying at Palo Duro Canyon SP Tues nite, driving to Walsenburg Co on Wed to play golf at Lathrop SP and spend the nite, driving on US 160 thru Alamosa for lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant and then into Pagosa Springs for checkin on Thursday. Anyone want to team up?

hwy 160 is a fine road, the east-west thoroughfare through the southern part of the state. La Veta pass on the east side is just a mild climb, Wolf Creek pass is a long, low gear climb up and slow on the down; its the Continental Divide.
Its equisite and I'm hoping full of fall color for our weekend. There's a little town on the west side of it with a 60's style eaterie/gift shop on the north side of the hwy - you'll feel like you've stepped back in time in there. Of course you can track your route on google maps, and rvparkreviews.com is my favorite for finding campgrounds en route to/from anywhere.

Thanks about the reassurance about Wolf Creek Pass. This is my first trip in the B, just got it about 4 mos. ago, so was concerned about the mountains.

My son and his family (from CO Springs) may join us. They have a tent or if it rains will join me in the B I assume if it rains it would still be warm/hot enough in the hot springs to enjoy. Can't wait to get out of the heat of the desert.

We are coming from California. Right now we are holed up at Bucks Lake high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for 5 days at a National Forest campground and are reluctant to leave.

It looks, however, that we will miss the Niobrara Social. That is just too far to travel from California and then backtrack to Colorado.

When I double checked our reservation today they wouldn't give me a site number. Told them we would be arriving on Thurs. Will be leaving Wis. Sunday, can't wait to be on the road. David and Nancy have been having fun on the road for weeks already.
