We've been thinking about getting a couple of those "outlined" maps of the USA and Canada that you fill in once you've RV'd in those states, provinces or territories.
Question is ... what qualifies for a "fill in". Is it simply that you drove through the area? That seems way too easy and almost like cheating.
I am thinking about a guideline for us that says we must have camped at least one night in order for a state, province etc. to qualify to be filled in.
What guidelines do you use? ~ bugjr ~
1993 Glendale Royal Classic Ford E350; 460EFI; E4OD; Drives 26'/Sits 29' with rear slide; Michelin LTX/M&S; New Monroe "SC2955" Damper & anti-sway bar bushings; Rebuilt Rear Leafs; Bilstein B46-1613/14; Should be "pristine" by 2009 or 2010 or ...
If I've camped there in some form, even as an overnight.
However, that still only keeps me to 4 states. California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

That's the one we use. We have to sleep overnight in the camper to qualify to add a state (or province).
Now I don't know if you have any kids or grandkids who come along, but ours like to be the one to put on the new state/province. We go in birth order so as we add states, each third state means each kid has been able to add a state (or province). We make it a little ceremony to add the state on the morning after we have camped (clean off the spot for the state, tell a little trivia about the state, then let the kid press on the sticker, then everyone goes, "Yay!" and claps). The kids really got into it. Of course, it got so bad, the kids started wanting to go out of our way just to add a new state.
"Dad, Iowa is only 500 miles out of the way, can we go there and spend the night so I can add that state?"
"Wow! Alaska is really big! Can we drive up there so I can put that state in?"

That's the criteria we use.

For us it is either we camped in the state/province, OR we spent a entire day touring the state WITH the RV. After all, where would you camp in Rhode Island? I'm sure there are places, but we really enjoyed the mansions in Newport, and the Cliff Walk, as well as a few other neat things, but we actually CAMPED over the line in Connecticut. Since trailer was with us entire day touring RI, we counted it.
