I am looking for recommendations on a good sunshade for my 1999 newmar Dutch Star DP. I have seen the daynight shade with motorized service and that might bee a great purchase but pricy and they say that need two units to fit across because of TV int eh way. I am looking for a driving shade and don't mind using my existing curtains to close up at night. Presently It has the typical folding visors that are pretty useless.
Thanks
Jim

You can have you windshield tinted, much darker, that would be cheap.

Carefree makes electric sun shades in various sizes. I have three in my coach. The main problem with them is they rattle while the coach is in motion. The full shade you mentioned perhaps is the one manufactured by MCD. I saw a demo at the RV show in Pomona CA. I don't think they are that pricey.

Carefree also makes some manual pull-down sunshades - less pricey, work great. We also use some inexpensive clip-on see-thru visors - added to our existing see-thru visors makes for pretty good coverage. Got those at CW, as I recall. Bright light tends to give DW headaches, so making her comfortable was/is a necessity.

Be careful if you decide to have the windshield tinted. Most states will not let you tint the major viewing area beyond what is already there. The only exception is for medical reasons. I have a friend who had a "medically tinted" windshield. He was stopped so often that he had it changed back.

If you find a place that will tint the windshield, you probably won't get a receipt for the work because they don't want anyone to know they did it.

I have two Carefree Power SmartVisors in our HR. They don't rattle or swing and they can extend down to the dash. I can operate the driver's side and the passenger side from the driver's seat; the passenger can operate the one on that side. They work really great even on those grey/white sky days to cut glare making it easier on the eyes when sunglasses would be too dark. Got to be one of the best cockpit options.

Our Bounder has a roller blind across the front windshield instead of curtains. Makes a great adjustable sun shade when the sun is low. I like it so much that I installed one on the driver's side window too.

I have 4 power shades , two on the side and two in front. They came with the MH, they work great, do not rattle. Don't know the name of them, but came in a 1998 Gulfstream Tourmaster.
Gulfstream can probably tell you the name of them.

shirlock1......If you have the large manual (hard flip down type) they make a tinted plexigas panel that attaches to the flip down and can be flipped down from the existing visor and you can see/drive through it. This might be the budget way to go.
