Rating reasons / About the campground: sparse camp store but did have shop n' rob right across the road, nice hiking trails next to falls downstream of the dam, pretty lake (horsepower restricted to 10 HP), great shower in the loop B restroom
Campsite number: 58, Gary-59, Scott-60, Paul- 61
About our trip: We were under the impression that the upper campground was now day use only so we all stayed down in the lower campground (Evidently they closed it to build some yurts on the lakeside sites – but still seems to be open to camping in the other ones). Gary, Scott, Paul and Allison left around 12:00 and they were able to get the camp host to open up loop B for us. It worked out great because there was a nice playground right in the center of the loop where the kids could play. I just have to say something about the loop B men's room shower...it was the best! Lot's of pressure - no water reducer on this one - plenty of room. The heater was bit noisy but did the job.

Saturday we woke to 24-degree temperatures and those (and you know who you are!) who didn’t disconnect the water hose found that it had indeed frozen (we filled our tank on Friday night).
Frosted bike seats:
After lunch (once it warmed up a bit) we hiked the 2.5 mile Nongame trail:

We had a great pot luck supper Saturday night then on Sunday we (Dave, Kim, Ashley, and Ashley's friend Mattie) hiked the Historic Trail and the Falls Trail which adjoins the Towaliga River.

Ashley and Mattie on rock:
During the hike we found a huge rock that just had to be conquered!

Here's two pictures of a crooked tree the girls posed on:
Some pictures of the Towaliga river that was fished by several members of our group producing absolutely and totally negative results:
And we even saw another fellow member of the truck camper family:
Unfortunatly, they left on Sunday morning before we were able to meet the owners. Until next time. Dave.
Thanks, Silver. I figure it'll keep some of the other truck camper members from catching cabin fever. Seems a few of our northern friends are already going a little bonkers because of old man winter. Dave.
Glad you enjoyed High Falls! We're only about 15 mins from there and enjoy quick weekends trips there often. We hiked that river side trail last month...I recall seeing that crooked tree and big rock! My son and his friend had to conquer it also
PS - I'm not sure what's up with the lakeside campground. I had heard they were only using it for state park volunteers and worker. They've also built a putt-putt course near the pool but we've not played it yet.
A great park, tent camped there several years ago. My son is an Eagle Scout and we were enroute to the North GA mountains for a week of High Adventure camping; caving, climbing whitewater, etc....
Looks like you had a great time.

Heck Dave, there you go again...having fun camping with a lot of people. I'll have to try that some day. Also, didn't know you were into hard rock. Thanks for the pictures Dave, Dave
