I'm not sure why anyone would need much over 300 miles range before stopping. 420 would give you plenty of cusion. I rarely let my MH get down to half a tank. It's really not even good for you to seat in the driver's seat any longer than that. Enjoy the drive and stop to fill up occasionaly.

I agree and use your methodology, however if you do actually use your math and fill at 1/2 full then you'll get ~200 miles per half tank. I like to land in a campground after a long day with enough reserve where I can get home if I have to (weekend trips etc) and ~200 range for 1/2 tank would be too small for me.

Geeez-----I have a 75 gallon tank and I'm looking for a gas station by the time I get to 400 miles. I guess you get used to that when you drive a gasser pulling a 5000 lb toad.
And I've never had a problem finding one even on the Alaska Highway.

Doesn't make any difference.
Who would choose a Workhorse FRED over a Freightliner FRED? No one that I know including Tiffin.
The Workhorse FRED is doomed to failure the same as it's R series and the UFO.
Workhorse should work on refining it's bread and butter products. The W gas series line! The W22 & W24 gas chassis'. Ford is quickly gaining market share in the 22,000 and 24,000 gas chassis market.

Do you know the generator will stop pulling fuel when the tank is between half and a quarter full? Use 20 and 30 gallons and stop for the night and you could run out of fuel for the generator.

Anyone with a 2002, 2003, 2004 or 2005 W20 or W22 chassis can tell you why... you're right; Workhorse should not only improve their current W-series, they should resolve the brake-issues on the above listed chassis.

I think Workhorse should listen to the folks that own their chassis to find out what we really want. Already today I have spoken with two pretty smart members of this RV forum and both feel that a 40 gallon fuel tank is a non-starter or simply put, a bad idea! Bagman.

You CANT be serious... My COMMON day consists of 600 miles a day and Im not flying or doging it at all. At the end of MY travel day I refuel so that Im ready to go as early as sunup ( usually not before about 7:30 AM though) if I need to get crackin. Depending on conditions I can make it 750 to 800 miles before the well is dry.

After owning several MH's my opinion is that you can never have enough fuel capacity. At times, while driving in Mexico some remote fuel stations might run out of diesel or gas and it could be a long way to the next station. In the US, price differences in different areas enable you to store less expensive fuel when it is available. Like money, you can never have too much.
My FRED has a 80 gallon diesel tank with about a 800 mile range on a good day. I would prefer at least a 100 gallon tank and I am considering a larger capacity replacement tank as I have the room and capacity for a larger tank in my MH. I stop frequently for rest stops but I do not like looking for diesel at every stop.

If you are not going to buy one, what do you care?
