Mike...
Are you going to be able to make it to Rancho Buganvilia park in La Placita, Michoacan?
Even rocmoc enjoyed his week stay here and sometimes he's hard to please :-)

We arrived in Rancho Buganvilla in Michoacan about two hours ago. obviously they have good internet. We need to check out the rest of the place yet but first impressions are simply WOW. Will make a separate posting later and Angela will post pictures but first impressions are very good. Kinda ticked we missed ROCMOC as we would have like to put a face to the name. We have a few war stories to tell about getting lost in Manzanillo in streets slightly wider than my rig (wifes fault and thats the story I'm stickin to) but all is well after spending a night in a Pemex last night. Thank god for Traffic cops or we would still be there. Nice folks. Will also do a count of the rigs later. About a dozen in all.

By the way La Playa in Melaque is full but the almost free camping at the end of the beach has lots of room and has all amenities available for 40 pesos (about 3.50 US) per night. Well kinda, power comes from the sun via solar panels so thats available. Water comes from a truck...cheap...and they have a dump site...so yah...everything is available. Lots of local networks from folks that would probably be happy to take your money. Just look for a dish and go and talk to them. Melaque was fun and Barra de Navidad is cutsy. Take a 200 peso boat tour and bring your camera. Ask for Mario and tell him John and Angela sent you.

Anyway, take y'all.

Rancho Buganvilla

Okay. About 26 sites. 11 occupied, 9 Canadian, and 2 American. Very nice spot and we'll be here for a few days more than planned. In a few years there won't be an empty site available here.

At the new Campo Sirena in Bahia Asuncion, Baja, over New years there were

2 trailers---American
1 small MoHo --- Canadian

But it is out of the way, and rustic. But it is a place to camp--beach front---no designated spots, limited electricity via extension cord, water available from a hose, and a central septic for dumping.

There is also a small wooden building with one toilet and shower, a book exchange, a washing machine outside, but there is wi-fi. It is for those seeking out of the way places---still 12 miles of dirt road that will be paved, this year according to the governor.

While we have a home in Bahia Asuncion and know the owner of this new camping area, we have NO interest in this new venture. Just thought we would share it.

In fact, in our town and in our area, people often park campers anywhere with no problem.

Name of Park: Roca Azul
Mexican locale: Jocotepec
Total sites: 51
Sites occupied by US plated campers: 3
Sites occupied by Canadian plated campers: 7
Sites occupied by other campers: 4 (some week-end only)
WiFi: Yes, but not at all sites with enough strength
Optional observations: 2 pools. Very large resort with Tennis, Futball and plenty of birds. We are expecting a large Caravan of Quebec based Canadians later this month. Very friendly group and truly worth staying if you are around Lake Chapala area.

Backtrack due to no WiFi

1-7 - Piramide - Piste - Chichen Itza - we were the only ones here but later a couple of big rigs and a small rig from Quebec arrived. 2 spaces with electric but could be maybe 6 in front of hotel on grass about a mile from Chichen Itza entrance.
