In the 454 Vortec "J" engine, the spark plug gap should be 0.060".

As has been stated by others, the plugs should be good for 100,000 miles.

If you are having spark issues, it could be the wires, which tend to break down from heat.

Try SplitFires. You will get a slight mileage increase, although it may be hard to notice it. Should be ~1/2 mpg. I have documented test over a 20K miles compared to new plugs and have proven the increase in my car. Although I don't believe the advertisement, what I do believe is that the split does give better exposure to the fuel charge.

OH yeah! Now there is a good WASTE of money!!!....

Use the AC plugs...but as suggested make sure and check the wiring.

I agree with changing plug wires. Talked to a long time RV mechanic that suggested replacing them every 20,000 miles to avoid trouble. I also agree with using AC plugs.
Good luck!

I swapped out a set of AC plugs at 100,000 miles and they still looked good.

Don't know why you would want to change to another brand unless you don't like the 100,000 mile recommend replacement frequency.
