We are looking to go to Ludington State Park in Michigan this year. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as what campsites (numbers) are nice campsites to stay at? This will be our first time there. Thanks

You use the site that is assigned to you when you arrive. Ludington State Park does not take site-specific reservations, you rather reserve a class of site.

Not to differ with you tatest, but I just placed my reservations for this summer. I know what site I will be on.

If you can't get into Ludington State Park then try Poncho's Pond, also in Ludington, which is just as nice if not nicer than Ludington State Park

My May reservation was "no site selection available."

Up until mid May or so the park is not site specific....and then again after mid October or so.

T_S_L: What kind of a site do you like?

If you want to be near the Lake Michigan beach stay in the Pines Campground. If you want to be near Lake Hamlin for boating, canoeing, kayaking, etc, stay in the Beechwood Campground. The Cedars Campground is between the two and is where the campstore is located.

Nice walking/biking trail connects all three campgrounds.

There isn't much grass in any of the three campgrounds. More sand in the Pines Campground than in the other two. Beechwood is fairly wooded with mature trees but all dirt. Pines is within walking distance of Lake Michigan beach.

Looking for a wooded area, sounds like I may have to try out the Beechwood campground. we are looking to try to go on Labor day week/weekend. I know its going to be rough getting reservations...
