We recently changed our toad from a Jeep Grand Cherokee to a Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab 4WD. I'm not too worried about being able to pull it as I am the total length of our rig- approx 63 ft. All thoughts, comments, or suggestions are appreciated.
Well, I had the truck weighed today and it came in at 5500 lbs.even. That's 1000 lbs more than the MH magazine 2007 Towing Guide said it weighed. What a suprise. Texan you were so right.
Anyway, thanks for all your great advise and comments. See you on the road.

According to the owners manual simply putting the transfer case in neutral is all I need to do. It also says to leave the trans in park (which worries me a bit) and the key in the off position. I guess the steering wheel doesn't lock, am I right?
If that's what the owners manual says, then that's what should work.
Test it out. Go to an empty, large parking lot. Have someone sit in the truck and tow it around to see how it behaves at low speeds. Don't do this on the road, of course.
Happy, thats a great vehicle to tow, nothing to do cept read the manual to get it ready to tow, and it will tow great. I dont have any problem with our Avalanche, of course you know its there from a dead stop, and the fuel mileage will go down somewhat on your motorhome, but having a Full size vehicle makes it all worthwhile for me. Make sure you upgrade your towing hitch and cables or chains to 10,000 otherwise, happy towing.

we used to tow a 2500 crew cab. Follow the manual and yes it goes in park with the key off. The wheel won't lock. It pulled like a dream. If you need truck side brackets pm me..

I don't tow my 07 behind the MH but I do behind a grain truck during harvest. I had reservations about leaving the trans. in park also but thats what you do. Seems if you leave it in neutral the trans will turn some and they don't want it to do that. The steering wheel does not lock with the key in the off pos.
In fact, we DO NOT leave the key in the ignition, it comes out and into a pocket, with doors locked. After you get it set up to tow, take it to a scale and get it weighed. GMC said ours was 5050# curb weight, WRONG, It was 5800+# curb weight, before set up. Now with all the STUFF we keep in it, the tool box and the toys, we are over 7200# which required a heavier tow bar. Tows like a dream though.

Motorhome magazine 2007 Dinghy Towing guide puts the base curb weight at 4508 lbs. I guess I'll need to have it weighed. I did upgrade to a 10K Blue Ox and I have a 10K reciever
